Injured Soleus.. Need help

I have recently found out that I injured my soleus running to much in a short time frame, I was thinking that it was just a shin splint until I went and had it checked out. I am leaving for the Air Force in January and I need to be FULLY recovered and able to pass a test before I go that involves running, swimming, and basic exercises. What kind of exercises can I do to recover this muscle and make it stronger. Any and all help is VERY much apperciated.

ive already been to the doctors, im taking indocin for it, i was just wondering if there were a few exercises to help it some...

Well, within the first two weeks of recovery, you should stick to R(est), I(ce), C(ompression), and E(levation). A muscle strain needs time off to heal, so try to stay off your feet as much as possible and put your training program on a time-out for those two weeks. After that period of time expires, begin your exercise regiment again, but ease into lower body and running exercise. Also, after you begin exercising again, you need to stretch your calves, because soleus injuries typically occur if the muscle tissue isn't flexible enough to handle the strains placed upon it.

Take a look at this page, as it has a handful of gastroc and soleus exercises and stretches to help strengthen and stretch your calves: Calf Exercise Menu

Hope this helps and you have a fast recovery. Good luck in the AF.
