Initial wt gain even with dieting and exercise ?

Started dieting and eating healthy to lose weight yesterday, okay so today i weigh in a pound heavier. Tell me this is normal. It goes against what I wanted, but I suspect it is because yesterday I did 500 cals of exercise and today i ate a skillet of stir fry veggies for lunch and drank 8 glasses of water; THEN weighed myself this afternoon after the veggy lunch and water, so the weight gain MUST be from that, right? Frustrating. I guess I know the weight (fat) will be coming off, as I am only on day two.

Did you weigh yourself in the morning the first time? Your weight can fluctuate around 2lbs. during the course of a day just due to different body functions taking place. Plus, the pound could be muscle built or food (or salt) or a combination of a number of other variables.

I know that weighing myself everyday would drive me insane with all the ups and downs. I don't even bother weighing myself until a week has gone by. It makes the loss that much sweeter for me and I don't drive myself crazy in the process.

Just relax and don't sweat a pound difference. If you put in the effort you will get results, but be patient with yourself and your body. It takes time.

*EDIT: Also remember that 16oz. is a pound, so if you drank a bunch of water all at once, it's going to show up.

One day is WAY too early to expect to see any results. You have to watch the trend over several weeks before you decide something is wrong.

It sounds like you should probably put the scale away and only weigh every week or two. Your weight will fluctuate 2-5 lbs per day easily so don't get caught up with that.

Aravind, I notice your "Start weight 275 - Current weight 189 - Goal 180"-- fricken amazing what you have accomplished, I am impressed, gives me hope!
