i bought some salmon.. didnt look very closely but the otherside has skin on it... im pretty sure i remove this... but before or after cooking and how do i do it? i tried on a piece of it just ripping it off... most caem off but theres like grey skin remnants or soemthing... thanks.

unless you have a really sharp knife -a boning knfe to slice it off -

cook it with the skin on and when it's done - you can remove it with a spoon...

it's easier to cook it with the skin on as it keeps it together.. and it's not like chicken skin where you eat it and ti adds a ton of fat..

it's just the skin and probably no scales so leave it on

it actually worked out pretty good scraping it off with a spoon afterwords thanks! but yeah it did have scales. and a little fin too. i broiled it (no butter) with soem spices, and poured lemon juice on it. it wasnt bad at all!

alternate method of cooking it is to poach it - fill a skillet with white wine and/or water with some garlic and maybe some dill or rosemary and bring it to a simmer... (not boiling)

slide inthe salmon and let it cook til it's done... done depends on the size of the fish...

serve -

once it's cooked the skin comes right off...

Salmon was made for grilling. If you like the black marks on it, salmon is a fish that will stay together on the grill if you're careful and do it quickly. But, it's much easier to grill it on the skin. The skin protects the meat, you can't hardly mess it up. After the fat has bubbled out, scrape it off with a spatula and you can spread pumpkin butter or thick teriyaki stir fry sauce on top then keep in there for a couple more minutes and it's most excellent.

try marinading your salmon in some teriyaki sauce, kikkomann makes some great flavors, then line your baking dish with tinfoil it makes for easier clean up. bake your fish until it is flaky. It is really yummy this way. Kikkoman has some great recipes on its website for fish, chicken, pork, beef, and just veggies! Check it out!

I rub a little olive oil on it and then sprinkle a "southwest blend" of seasoning over it and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Then I toss it on my Forman Grill for about 10 minutes.

Quite good in deed!
