Hello to my fellow forum members.
I have been viewing your board now for the last couple of weeks and decided tonight that I would join.
I didn’t join this group basis on that I need to lose a large amount of weight, in fact I am 5'5" and 140 lbs, 10 pounds would be ok but not necessary. I am here because if I don’t get myself on the right track now I will be over weight.
I am some what a healthy eater now, but recently I started skipping meals, not that I pig out on junk food because I don’t even carry it in the house, but I’m just not hungry. I have to force myself to eat. I don’t intend too skip meals, it’s just some times I get so busy I just forgot to eat until I realize I haven’t eaten in the last 5-6 hours, this problem only happens to me on days off. I’m a shift worker, I work 12 hours shifts of both days and nights and for the next month I’ll be on nights, so before I go to work I always prepare my meals for the evening and I make sure I bring a healthy selection. I had months where I made sure that I was eating every 3 hours, I set my clock to remind me, I’d have a carb and a protein but no matter what I ate my sugar cravings always overtake me. I can have a very well balanced meal and about ½ hour to 45 minutes later I am craving sweets to the point that I will open a bag of chocolate chips that I have for baking just so I can get that sugar into my body to relieve the cravings. If I carry any type of junk food in the house I will gorge on it to the point that it is either gone or almost gone, so I can’t have it in the house at all. I have tried just about everything, eating balanced, lots of fruit and veggies, water, exercise, chromium and still every evening I get those stupid cravings. My cravings get so bad to the point that if I don’t get sugar I get very beside myself, cranky and I’ll usually just go and lye down, but I don’t want to have to be doing this every evening.
So I guess I’m here for motivation to keep my butt moving and to keep me on the right track for eating. For the most part I know what I should and should not eat but it may need a bit of tuning. I do not count calories and I have no intention of doing so, I know how to portion sizes (except when it comes to junk food, I just can’t stop) and I have tried fitday for a couple of months and I found that I just didn’t have the time at the end of each day to be placing my meals on there, especially if what I eat I can’t find in the fitday selection, then I need to input the nutrition value myself, it was a lot of work for the little time that I had.
I’m from eastern part of Canada, and here it is pretty cold this time of year. So getting outside and exercising isn’t as easy as it was a month or so ago, and if I go to the gym I feel bad for leaving my puppies behind because they are not getting any exercise and I am.
So I hope I didn’t bore anyone with to many details. I’m looking forward to interacting with many different people. Have a great weekend. Cheers
