Hi Everyone,
I found this site last week but this is the first chance I have had to really check it out and I like what I see here.
A little bit about me... I'm a wife, a mother of 3 little boys (ages 5, 4, and 10 months) and I'm sick and tired of not being able to play with them. 4 years ago, after I had my second child, I lost 50 lbs over 6 months time and looked decent and felt good. I had about 75 more lbs to lose but got off track and just maintained at the weight I was at. Then I got married again and got lazy and found out I was pregnant with my 3rd son. Because I had gestational diabetes I had to diet every time I was pregnant - much more strict than when I wasn't - and so after I had my 3rd son I said "screw this, I'm giving myself some time off from dieting". BIG MISTAKE! I am now heavier than I have been my whole life and have 160 lbs to lose until I reach a "healthy weight" for my height . I was chunky as a child and all through my teenage years I was obese and now that I'm an adult and have a handful of kids to keep up with I'm seriously ready to change things. When my 5 year old asks me to play soccer with him I want to be able to play for more than 5-10 minutes without having to sit down.
I have tried atkins, weight watchers, etc. Just about everything that is out there. I have even been approved by my insurance company to have weight loss surgery but can't bring myself to go under the knife as I am too chicken.
This time I am counting calories and so far it is going well. I have cut out a lot of fat from my diet and a lot of sugars, eating lean meats and so much "rabbit food" that I fear my ears are getting bigger and I'm going to start hopping everywhere I go (LOL). Everyone at my office jokes that I have become a vegetarian because of what I have been eating the last week but I feel good eating it. I already notice I have much more energy during the day and I don't hit that after-lunch-wall anymore where I feel like crawling under my desk with a blanket and pillow and taking a nap like George Castansa on Seinfeld.
I really think I may be on the right track this time. Hopefully it works! (And if it does I may just be able to get my husband going on it too!)
Thanks for lending an ear - hopefully I will be able to post some awesome before/after pics like so many that are part of this group. You guys are doing a great job, keep it up!
Have a great day, and thanks for the support
Slowly becoming healthier,
Stephanie
