Today my fitness regime has officially started. I have been doing stuff since January this year but fairly sporadically. I have been very unfit for the past 10 years (I'm 23) but I am planning to change that. I have always been pretty bad at sports and anything "sporty" in general and just accepted it and just felt sorry for myself over it.
But why should I accept it? Why not try and change it? And so that's now what I'm doing. This year I have kind of felt this way but I have not pushed myself enough. The one consistent exercise I have done all this year is indoor rock climbing, which I love, and I actually do push myself and therefore see results.
But after a climb, my forearms are generally sore for 5 days so I only get to climb approximately once a week. So... I need to do stuff in between those rest periods that would not interfere too much with my climbing and that will improve my fitness and well being.
So, just recently I started swimming. I was a pretty bad swimmer, so I have been getting private coaching to help me. It is very difficult for me and I was on the verge of giving up as I always do with exercise (except for rock climbing) but yesterday I felt a change of heart, and I am determined to go from a very uncoordinated and unfit swimmer to the point where I can consider myself a strong and competent swimmer! Hopefully, this website will help me in that.
I have given myself a fitness "checkpoint" which will be 15/12/2011. Meaning, I want to see how much progress I can make from now until then.
