Hi everyone,

my name is Samantha, I put on about 20lbs at university. I have lost 6lbs gradually just with exercise and a few lifestyle changes, but I have just kind of stayed around this weight now for the last year or so. I used to be 134lbs now I am 148lbs. I love to exercise and healthy eating, but I find it hard to stick to anything. I often eat healthily and exercise for about 5 days only to completely ruin it over the weekends. I would like to lose the rest of the weight to bring me back to 134lbs, I have read some of your stories and am very inspired by some amazing people. I think I can do this but I need some support!

Hey Samantha, welcome to the forum!

I posted this on another newecomer thread but I think it applies to you as well:

Have you ever considered starting some sort of journal to track your exercise/diet? There is a forum for it here: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/f/9/weight-loss-diary if you're interested. This is a great way to get tips on how you can improve upon what you're doing. If you're honest, and you write down everything that passes your lips, you can get a much clearer picture of what and how much you actually eat each day.... It's really easy to 'forget' calories if you have nothing written down. Not to say that you would need to do this forever, but it should help you understand where you're starting point is.

Good luck :)

Thanks very much, I have followed your advice and started a weight loss diary, it is amazing (and shocking!) what a difference it makes when you write down everything you eat. No wonder I had put on weight, I think I was eating a lot without realising. My problem is that I am such a picker when I'm hungry! I love food! But have tried to swap snacks for smoothies and things like that now, I have lost 2 lbs already just from cutting out salty snacks :) Thank you!!

That's great! Just take it one step at a time... make small changes instead of trying to change everything all at once. Are you keeping a journal on paper?

I love food journaling, and I also like to add in exercise tracking to see how that impacts overall calorie intake vs. calories burned. How is your fitness regime going?
