ok, i am 19, 3 years ago i weighed 140 pounds, and i am 5 foot 4...i was within my range of healthy weight and i felt confortable...now, i am still 5 foot 4, but i weigh 195 pounds, and i am no longer comfortable with my appearance... i fell discusting..and no one wants to feel that way. the reasons for my weight gain are i had to move in with my dad bc of problems in my mothers house that where not suitable for any child...abuse mostly. we never had any food in the house and i was forced to run around after my younger brother who was 3 at the time because my mother was too busy on the computer all the time. so when i moved in with my father, i had food in the house.i was a smoker too on top of it, i went to talk to my doctor and he told me i had to quit smoking because i had asthma and it was making it worse. so i was quitng smoking, i also started taking the birth control pill. the birth control has side affects, one is weight gain or weight loss. with my luck , it was the gain. i gained about 15 pounds after starting the pill. on top of that i was quitting smoking and was munching out really bad. before i knew it, i had gained 50 pounds...within like a year... i have now been this way for 2 years, and only because i dont know how to do this weight loss think, i even went on herbal magic, and i gave up on it... i went to the gym, but working took up too much time i couldnt make it within the hours it was open...so now i keep telling myself imma loose weight, and i keep trying, but its just not working, i need a jump start and i am hoping someone here can help me out....i want to be how i was 3 years ago...i know rome wasnt built in a day, and i dont expect this weight loss to be quick and painless either.but would like it to happen as quick as possible....ANY ADVICE? a 19 year old female shouldnt fell this way about herself! no one should...

hey hun.. you have come to the right place. :D

Most of the women here are doing a 1,200 calorie diet.. meaning you can eat what ever you like as long as your total number of calories stays within 1,200. (This diet is great if find you just can't cut out your favourite foods..)

Exercise is very important.. im so bad at it! haha But don't think of exercise as just going to the gym.. a brisk 30mins walking everyday will be benefical. :)

Water is also very important.. we are all meant to be drinking at least 8pints (4lt) a day! which is actually a hell of a lot! The more your drink, the quicker the weight loss comes off... so ive heard. Mix that with healthy eating, and exercise.. you are sure to do fine. :)

I have upmost confidence in you.. if i can do it.. so can you. :D

Hi hun! Sounds like Beagle gave you some good advice!

You have to remember, although you can probably drop a few pds fast, loosing weight takes time. Thats the biggest thing that gets people about loosing weight, no one wants to wait..but you have to keep that in mind!

GOod luck and let me know if you have any questions!

i bought a digital scale....

i went out and bought a digital scale because my scale at home was giving me a different reading everytime i stood on it...so i brought it home, stood on it , looked down, and felt like i was going to throw up. the scale read 210 pounds... 16 pounds more then i thought was...i am so depressed and this really was a reality check for me... i have to beat this. but i am so sad i am MY HIGHEST WEIGHT EVER AND I THOUGHT I LOST WEIGHT. when i was on herbal magic i went down to 185...

i need support...im depressed!:(

hi there, sorry your feeling so low at the moment.

I am lucky in that i dont have scales at home and i will get weighed at my local doctors every month instead therefore im on the same scales everytime and theyre more accurate than the ones at home.

I know some people dont go by weight but go by centimeters lost? Maybe you might like to try that ??? I might have o get another tape measure to do mine!!!!

good luck, im sure you can do it :)

Hi, i understand how you feel 3 years ago i was in my highest weight ever 80.5 kilos and i also was very depressed back then i had a really bad relationship with my ex he was very abusive with me in many ways, well what im trying to say with all these is that feelings in some way interfer with our eating habits. And as you say you had familiar problems its possible that the problem of your weight begins there, in my case i decided to go with a therapist first of all to speak out all my emotions and second my eating disorder and believe me that helped in certain percent. OK by the otherside if excersicing takes you too much time, you should try curves fitness center that really worked too much for me its just 30 min. 3 times a week, and it seems that you need motivation to lose your weight so here is an idea that worked for me and might work for you, in a sheet of paper make a list of how you feel know with your overweight and another list of how would you feel if you were lighter, imagine how would you like to look like, all the big benefits in health in beauty all the cool trends you could wear, etc... to keep it up first of all find or think on something that motivates you and always have it in mind that always gives the little push we all need and just remember something you have to options. 1.let the days go by, by just complaining and feel depresed about your weight about how you look and how you feel or option 2. Do something now so that tomorrow you can feel better by " saying i dont like how i look but im doing something for it ". Just keep on trying never too late. ...OH and one more thing i never said it was easy because we all know its not but more harder it is too be like this forever and not even giving a try. =)

I deffinately know the feeling. I am new here as well, and I love this place already. Everyone is so excouraging. You willl like it as well. I know how it feels to be disgusted, let me tell you. But you CAN beat this!

hey dance i know what youre talking about. i looked up and here i am. wow i have to lose 200lbs at least. your not that far overweight but yea it is depressing. in the grand scheme of it all you just need to say to heckle with it lol thats as clean as i could put it . just stick to your guns and keep moving forward. besides no will know how much you weigh unless you tell them...

I truly believe that in order to lose weight and change one's body shape we have to see it in ourselves before we start. Words are so powerful. If everyone woke up everyday and looked in the mirror and told themselves "you are beautiful", "you look like you are losing weight," "you are looking slimmer in the waist". After a few weeks the body undergoes an amazing transformation :)

Try it y'all :)

Let me say that i did the exact same thing as you. i am 5'7" and weight 200lbs. i used to weigh 150lbs which was healthy. i need to lose weight too. I'm new, i dont know how to make a post? could you tell me how to post?

congrats on losing 8 lbs.

First off, GREAT BIG HUG (not to be too corny)

But I can completely sympathize. It's hard to get started. For two months, I've messed around with trying to lose weight. I'd eat super healthy for three days and then for four days I'd just pig out.

Like I was taking one step forward and two steps back.

If you don't make it a priority, you will never get around to it.

You are important and deserve to make time for yourself. No one is going to do it for you. I am new to this forum too and look forward to the support!

Oh! And FYI about the scales. I bought a new one too after I started and it weighed me higher than my non-digital scales.

Hello, and welcome! You don't really need the gym, jogging, walking, jumping rope, walking circles in the yard, dancing, ANYTHING that gets you moving will burn calories. However burning calories is less important, in my opinion, than restricting calories. If you go to the gym and burn 600 calories, then come home and have a large milkshake, you've just replaced those calories.

It's almost unfair how efficient the body is. `What, you mean I have to walk for an hour to get rid of that chocolate bar I ate?'. Frustrating!!!!

My biggest step was quitting sugar, which kept hundreds of calories from my daily diet. My primary exercise is walking, and it seems to be working!

I can help you.

Hi,
My name is Tammy and I am an Herbalife Distributor. I'm not sure what you meant by Herbal Magic but it's not magic. You have to have the will power to make it happen. I started taking the Herbalife products in August '06 and I made it beyond my goal of weight loss. I didn't have alot to lose but I did it and I never would've thought that I could do that. I know you have a goal and I can help you meet your goal. If you're interested, please contact me at (link removed) or you can visit my website

Sincerely,
Tammy Rhoades

i'm in the same position.

I'm 18 and i gained 50 lbs within a year because i moved in with my father because of problems with my mother. I also started getting comfortable around my boyfriend (the first month is always awkward.. you dont want to let them see you pig out and stuff).. then we both really liked to snack.. so we did.. ALL THE TIME. haha. Then i started college, and all my time was there, so i ate out a lot. it added up fast. I just joined.. i've only lost 4 lbs.. but here is what i suggest:
Take baby steps. Dont expect yourself to be disciplined overnight. Make one goal for yourself every week. My first was to drink 3 water bottles a day. Then maybe try to take chips, or something out of your diet. Whatever it is you find that you think would help.

I also suggest counting calories. i try to limit myself to 1500 calories per day. I like to find something motivational every day. Just to keep myself motivated for the next day.

Set little goals for yourself, but dont ever deprive yourself of something.. because then you'll crave even more. if you are dying for chocolate.. instead of having a hershey's bar, have a hershey kiss..only 30 calories for one. i try to avoid soda, chips, and chocolate... but i even broke down today and had 5 hershey kisses. But i watched my calorie intake all day.

I try to eat at subway,or Quizno's when i want to eat out somewhere...

good luck..you can do it, and we'll help you along the way..
