Hey all my name is Jenny and I will be turning 19 at the end of the month. I have been struggling with my weight for some time now and I really want to get it under control. I am 5'2" and I weight 194lbs. which is the most I have ever weighed and I don't want that to go up anymore. My family is very supportive, but only to a certain point from my point of view. To me I feel it's hard to relate to my family about my weight because I am the only one expierencing this problem. I need support from those who are going through this same problem.

Since I am turning 19 I have been picturing my self farther into the future and I am scared of what I see. I don't want to be 200+ lbs by my 20th b-day. I don't want to die of a stroke like my grandmother did 9 years ago when she was only 60. I want to live a long and healthy live.

I hope this time around I will win my battle with being over weight. So please if anyone out there is willing to lend and ear or some advice I would greatly apierciate it.

Well I'm off for now. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Jenny

Hi Jenny,
Welcome to the WLF and good for you for taking these first steps in getting fit and healthy :D

I'd start by taking small steps, drink a bit more water, cut your portions a bit, skip the fast food or sodas. Look at whatever it is in your diet and try to improve some small, easy to manage aspects.

As you start seeing results, it's easier to continue.

Get out and move a little more - go for a 45 minute brisk walk a couple of times a week if you can.

Check out or if you want a place to track and record your diet or exercise.

Start a journal here in the diary section and we can get to know you and offer support while you reach your goal.

Remember, you CAN do this - it's one day, one meal and one pound at a time :)

Welcome here Jenny! Good for you for wanting to change it now...I waited until I was 32; I'm 5'2" as well, and made it to 200 lbs. M2M is right, you can do this, and by making small changes, you can be the you that you want to be!

Hi Jenny,
It is not a good feeling when you are the only one. But you know what? This is your time to get this thing under control. I am proud of you for reaching out, that takes a lot of courage. You are no longer alone. You are here:) .I have not been here long, but i have been encouraged by many. I am so glad to be apart of a caring bunch. This place is loaded with support, encouragement, real life situations and other online web sites to help.
Tips i offer are: Drink more water, eat more protien (fills you up longer) and get moving. Finishing projects, walking a pet, household chores and if you can get a gym membership. do 30 minutes of cardio a day(you can break it up and still get the benifits of doing 30 minutes straight). Lastly, i suggest planning your day to incorporate your new lifestyle. Taking it one decision at a time is what works best for me. Stay focused on your goals and you will reach them.
:)
