I'm new here, and I REALLY need some words of motivation!

Hello everyone! My name is Elaine. I have been struggling with my weight for all of my life. About 3 years ago, I joined weight watchers and lost 70lbs. Since then I have gone through a break-up, then found a new love (currently, engaged!), finished nursing school and started my career as a registered nurse. Sadly, I have since gained back every pound I lost. I would like nothing more than to lose weight, and once again be healthy. Problem is I have zero confidence or motivation. I can't really understand why.

I feel very lazy and tired (from being overweight, I assume). So I find myself trapped in this vicious cycle.

Any and all comments are welcome. Tips? Words of wisdom? Encouragement?
Maybe one of you wonderful people will have some light to shine upon my struggle.

Hey Elaine, congratulations on everything :) In regards to your weight gain, this place is wonderful for support and information. Just being here everyday puts you in the right mindset and you learn so much. I recommend going to the Before and After forum and looking through as many threads as you have time for. It's really motivating and its helped me tons when I'm feeling down. Enjoy your stay here and best wishes.

Hi Elaine, welcome to the boards :)
Call me a cynic, but I feel that people are only set to lose weight when the time is right for THEM.
This is about my 3rd stint on Weight Watchers over the course of my life, and its the only time that I've stuck with it (and lost 73.6 pounds thusfar). It's very difficult to commit to making positive physical changes if you simply aren't at a place in your life where you're ready to buckle down and make it happen.

The good news: You've done it before, sister, you can do it again! I don't have to tell you how incredible of a weight-loss system Weight Watchers is, and how maintainable it is; how easy it is to turn into a lifestyle.

More good news: The members of this site are really, really incredible, and inspiring, and helpful, and always here to talk and to listen. On days that I feel sluggish and don't feel so much like going to the gym, I come here first, pick up my motivation, and end up going fullspeed at the gym right after.

And, just for kicks? My current motivational line:
"If you want a revolution, the only solution: EVOLVE."
:)
Best of luck to you.

Lazy and tired? Cut out all sugar for one week and see and feel the diffference. The worst thing about a bad diet is the effect it has on mood and thinking. Zero confidence and motivation? The worst thing about working (nursing - shift work?) is the effect it can have on mood and thinking. Any chance you're losing sleep or recovery time? Healthy weight loss is actually easy. Dealing with what's causing it - even identifying what'c causing it - might be harder.

Hi Elaine,

You have done it before.

Start it again. Dn't give up..

Tell you self that you can do it.
Fight the bad felling on self.
Just say " i can lose it "

ONE more things, only eat healthy foods.

Only eat healthy food is a grossly incorrect statement. First off, healthy is realitive to different people. Second, healthy doesn't mean lower calories. You can very easily only 'eat healthy' and not lose one pound but in fact gain weight because your not creating a calorie debt in your body. Third, you can just as easily lose weight eating the 'bad' stuff as well. It all comes down to moderation and calories. Is it wise to eat junk food all the time? No. Will junk food kill your weight loss? Maybe if it isn't done in moderation.

But 'eat only healthy food' is generic advice that is still false advice.

Hello!
I'm sending some support your way :)
Best of luck, you can do it - you've just got to keep your goal in mind and be strong.
