I'm new and in need of some motivation...

Hey all! I just signed up in hopes of finding some motivation (and I can help motivate others too!).. I'm 25 and not wildly overweight, but need to lose some weight. I'm 5'4 and 160 pounds. I'm getting married in June (so just over 9 months from now).
Growing up I was always the "tiny one" and somewhere in college I gained a few pounds here or there and went from 110 to 160. Now I do NOT want to be 110 again, I didn't have hips or a body then, but I would like to be thinner.
I'll go through periods of eating healthy and walking and biking, but then I'll slip up and feel like I'm not seeing any results. I know it takes time, but when you're wanting to lose weight, it's hard to be patient!
I don't drink any coffee, soda or juice, only sugar free lemonade and water (this is normal for me, so I'm not giving anything up). I've gone to the grocery and bought a lot of fruits and veggies, nuts, chicken. I just bought an elliptical, shake weight, and workout band. I just can't seem to find the motivation to actually use them!
Does anyone have any tips or advice or motivation to help me start and continue? Thank you!!!!!

Hey hun,

I understand that you are not "over-weight" but if you want to shape up at all, you need to keep your goal in mind. Do you have a specific number you want to see on the scale? If you don't you need to think really hard about it. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are planning on toning your body, your weight will be different. If you ARE trying to tone, I recommend eating whole grain food. It's the better of the carbs, that way you can shape up easier. Do NOT go overboard though! I recommend eating a small bowl of pasta (whole grain) the day before you work out. The only thing about that is you need to actually push yourself to work out, or else you will gain weight. But carbs ARE important for muscle building!

Good luck, hun. I'm sure you will be able to reach your goals, you just need to keep it in mind in everything you do. Congratulations on getting married! Just remember that if you lose a few pounds, you'll look bangin' in your dress, and you will make your fiancee go wild. :drool5:
