I'm new and I need motivation!! PLEASE Help!

hi there,

I am a mother of a one year old boy ! He's my pride and joy ! haha
I have a nice weight issue...I am finally getting the nerve to do something about it though...and actually this is my VERY first post ! hahaha I just got sick of looking at myself in the mirror and finally decided okay... I am excercising and I have been all last week only a little bit... I am starting out slow so not to discourage myself... I have a Tredmill and a Bowflex(which I've used once), pilates videos and kickboxing videos... and I use them all randomly...I'm waiting till after Christmas to get a cross trainer or an elliptical...does anyone know the difference between the two?! Oh and not to forget I make a point of taking my son swimming once a week... it's not the greatest excercise for me but it's fun for the two of us !! haha I've increased my water intake and I do stomach excercises EVERY day ! and I've also started eating less junk and sticking to meals and fruit or veggies and dip for snacks ! I also make a point of eating at least one piece of fruit a day...and I like making fruit smoothies at least twice a week ! and so far things are going good...but this is just the start of the second week and I am heading out of town this weekend...uh oh ! From Thursday till Sunday... The hotel has a gym and pool so I hope to make use of it ! I just had a lack of motivation today...and I am hoping this will help !! Anyways, Thanks for taking the time to read this incredibly long msg...if anyone has any advice or good motivational words for me !! PLEASE let me know ! I am looking for people who want to help and need help being motivated ! :) THANKS AGAIN !! ;)
 
welcome Kmommy, sounds like you are headinin in the right direction......slow and steady wins the race eh??!! Keep posting here it is great and you will get lots of motivation and support;) :D The first weeks are the hardest just stick it out and remember what you are fighting for!!!!! and congrats on the new little one (one year old babies are still new in my book!) any hoo see ya around and keep up the good work............STAR

thanks sooo much ! The first weeks are definitely the hardest... I've gotten started before and I've made it 3 weeks...and that's the farthest...boo to me...but ti was a start... I just do n't want to stop...I even tried keeping a log book and everything ! but yea ! thanks and way to go on your success so far !! it looks like you're doing amazing !! WAY TO GO ! :)
 
Hi good luck!!

One thing I do is to think "what is my goal." "Will eating this support my goal?" Is my environment supporting my goal? (Meaning no cheetos, no snickers, no pudding, no cake, no candy....)

Maybe you can use your baby in a snuggler and use as a body weight while you work out. Don't know if that would work, but perhaps.

Stick with it!!!
 
Thanks Marilyn for your advice ! that was helpful ! I have just recently "sort of" cleaned out my cuboards... there is still some junk food...but I told myself the only way I can eat stuff that isn't helping me...is if I make it...although I have a hard time saying no to chocolate or cookies or ice cream ! I Loooove em... and at my fiancee's parents house... maaan... I am a sucker !! I need more self control ! hahaha :) But thanks for the advice !!

I tried the login everything ya do an eat stuff before with out any results either...........so i forgot about it.....if it don't help YOU.whats the point?? posting on this site helps me.....i think cuz others are seeing it:eek: so i always have that in the back of my mind....plus i get to see others struggles and successes and it motivates me......I was addicted to this site when i first started postin!!!:eek: And when you go to your in-laws you should set ground rules for yourself......mine are at my ma's house and my main rule is I don't visit in the kitchen!!!! My Ma is a feeder!!! so just see what is the worst problem over there and make some rules for yourself.......you don't have to tell anyone, and it helps!!! hope your day is great!!! STAR

You should start a diary, it's a good way to sit down and record how well you did, or how badly, and to record how you are feeling and reflect on what you could do better. The people on this forum are really supportive and motivating :D
 
I agree with you when you say that this helps because people actually see it, and what not... it's like you have to do something because people are watching... not that anyone is going to judge you, it's just nice to knwo that there are others here who are struggling too !! And honestly I feel terrible, I really don't have a lot to loose, it's just I'm only 19 I'll be 20 in a couple of weeks and I have one child and two more to go, and not to mention I have a wedding next summer...and honeymoon to go on... but definitely some ground rules at my in laws will definitely help ! I have to make them ! I guess for me, if I get motivated now...that the whole time I am pregnant with the second I should be able to do stuff and not gain too much and maybe I have too many expectations, but what I do know is I am not happy with myself ! but that will soon change ! I feel better every day I work out ! :) I am leaving tomorrow out of town...so that'll be interesting ! I just hope when I get home I am still motivated ! anyways ! thanks for posting with me ! :) haha
I am go ing to start a diary wh en I get back, I like the idea of those !!

Your signature thing at the end where it says miles on tredmill and miles on bike I looove that ;) and days with out fast food ! that is such a cool idea too !
I should try it with chocolate... actually I dont' want to ! I seriously can't cut off chocolate... how horrible is that ! I should try it... but not yet... I'm not ready for that... not mentally ! hahaha but definitely I am going to start a diary ! and I am going to increase my work out schedule when I get back on Sunday... It will all start on Monday... YAY ! i'm excited now...will I still be on Monday!? :eek:

Thanks :D Yeah, I just started so my totals are a little low, but it's good motivation...I like seeing my numbers go up every day, it makes me look at the progress I've made, even if I don't lose any weight, I know that I've tried and I'm not just sitting on my butt all day and doing nothing

Good luck! Have fun on your trip and I'm sure you'll still be excited on Monday if you keep your attitude positive :)
