Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Wiles and I am 26 years old. I am hoping to lose about 20 pounds in the next couple months, and I tend to have a hard time sticking to diet plans. I am hoping being a part of a site like this can help me keep track of what I eat and do, and keep me accountable so that I may actually succeed this time!

I look forward to talking to everyone! I better go dig around the site now and get myself acquainted!

Hi, and welcome to the forum

What strategy or strategies do you plan to use to help you lose weight?

AWelcome to the forum!! I'd suggest reading the sticky threads at the top of each section and maybe starting a diary, they're great for motivation and accountability. Good luck! :)

Well, I started a blog last week that I write in every morning, explaining everything I ate and did the day before. I was hoping this would help keep me aware and accountable of what I am ingesting into my body. But on one hand I don't want to share it with my Facebook friends, and on the other knowing no one reads it makes it hard for me to really be concerned about accountability.

My short-term goal right now is focusing on limiting (eventually eliminating) my soda intake. I love Dr. Pepper, and it's not uncommon for me to drink 6 in a day with no water to balance out. I have had 4 sodas since Tuesday morning, so I think I am doing pretty well with that but it is very difficult.

I also need to focus on being more active. I play frisbee golf every weekend, and walk at least a mile a day home from the bus stop, but it's not enough. I want to really get in the habit of doing crunches and other exercises on my exercise ball, but I really have a lack of motivation to work out. I know this is the largest hurdle I will have to overcome, which is where I need some support!

Thanks =)

Blogging about weight loss is excellent, keep that up! You can do that in a private journal or on a private on-line food jdiary. Using this site is also a way to keep accountable, mkae friends and they will help to hold you up for success.

I have worked with people who have lost 20 pounds in a few months just by cutting out soda. This should be a top priority goal for you. It has no nutritional value and is full of chemicals, blaah!

Move, move, move! Any movement has value and adds to your over-all calories burned. When you walk, walk fast, that will really make a difference. A stroll has little or no value. Get yourself sweating and breathing hard every single day for at least 30 minutes. Do these tips and you WILL SUCCEED!

20 pounds just because of soda?! I wish it wasn't so bad for you because I love it so much! But I actually bought that new Mio water flavoring, and I love it so much I have noticed I have actually wanted to drink that over Dr. Pepper. I have always been a soda pop junkie, but it definitely is a top priority to change that.

Thanks for the tips! Everyone on here is so helpful! :hurray:
