The Associated Press: Seattle breaks temp record as heat wave continues

The National Weather Service in Seattle recorded 102 degrees by midday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, breaking a previous record of 100 degrees, set in downtown Seattle in 1941 and repeated at the airport in 1994.
Jay Albrecht, a meteorologist with the service, said it's the hottest it has been in Seattle since records dating to 1891.

:beer2:

I'm so done.....

Down here in the SF Bay Area we've actually been quite cool for this time of year. It's been 75-80 max for the past week. I feel spoiled. It's about time for a change :D

My sister lives in Southern Oregon and she said it's been 108* the past 2-3 days, she hasn't even left the house :sad2:

I'm actually up in Sonoma County, so we get a bit warmer than the city. Today it was foggy till damn near noon, then it cleared up and it's been mid 70's all day. I was working outside all day without my shirt and it was nice :D

yeah, it does! But it is *still* beautiful there! I'd take fog over the rain here any day! It's not as horrible as people say, BUT it is *much* more rainy than other places I have lived...but what do you expect from a rain forrest! LOL

I have been freezing when I go to Portland every December and Seattle every February or March for the last 10+ years. One year, I went to Seattle in July and the temp hit 93F and they thought they were gonna die. I didn't realize only 1 out of 6 residents has AC (it is more like 6/6 in Florida).

100+ in Seattle's humid environment with no AC would be downright uncomfortable. But, the Puget Sound temp is a very refreshing 48F;)

LOL! Bet it was like "shock" treatment! ....lol

yeah, it's pretty cold here during those months. We had 7...no joke...7 snowfalls of at least 2-3ft each time this past winter :speechless: ! I'm a mile from the water too!!! I thought it would never end!

Now we are having a really hot summer....what ever happened to moderate weather....

We have said we would get AC, but just never did because the heat usually doesn't last long enough, but we cracked after that 102 degrees, and bought two window air conditioners for the bedrooms.

I've suffered thru 115 degrees :SaiyanSmilie_anim: when we lived in El Paso, but that was 10 years ago....I just can't handle that sort of heat anymore.... :D

My brother lives south of you in Vancouver and I know he said they get a sh!tton of rain every year. I don't think I could live in that. I lived in Tahoe for a bit and LVED the snow, I really want to move back there. I dig the cold weather.

I was actually in South Lake last week for about 5 days and it was MINIMUM 85, sometimes 90* up there. It NEVER gets that hot up there. And then they had thunderstorms yesterday :speechless:

Tahoe....Use to ski Squaw all the time! Bear, Incline, Heavenly too! Good times......lol :D

It's beautiful there too!

I miss California, but I don't miss them being broke, the expense, and the economic pounding California is getting...but man it is beautiful.......:D

I'm in Vancouver, BC Canada, just north of Seattle and we have had record highs for the last few days too. Highest temps ever recorded, well over 90 in fahrenheit with lots of humid. Nobody here has air conditioning for the most part, everybody is complaining and you can't get near the beaches after the sun comes up. A little more reasonable today though, still above average but at least reasonable.

Sounds like we are in the same boat :D

No AC to speak of for most, and weather not traditionally found here...Keep the ice coming! lol :D

I was s'posed to be a lift operator at Heavenly this past winter. But the good snow came so late that I wasn't going to start til damn near the end of December, and I was going to be flat freakin broke. There was no way in hell I could have lasted until December, there was no work ANYWHERE up there. Also was going to be a snowmobile guide at a resort, that would have been bitchin'. There's a really strong chance I'll be back up there this winter though, I'll make sure I've got a job then shack up in a room for the winter. Free pass and you get to snowboard while you work. That's the life! :D

The beauty of the Sierras is another thing that has drawn me to the area, I love the high country. And you're spot on about Cali being broke, being expensive, etc. There's a lot this place has to offer and I'd love to stay, especially in the Tahoe area. But the cost of living plus the laws just suck. But until I find a place similar to Tahoe, I'll stay here :D

I lived in California for 20+ year. Loved it there, and had it not been for me getting married to someone in the military, I probably would still be there. :D

I love SF, and have traveled to Tahoe countless times, as well as other areas of California. I still have family and friends there, but to move back just wasn't going to happen :(

Too much time, and the cost just kept going up. It's a great place to live, and if one day the state gets their finances in order, who knows, I could be back.

But I knew they were in trouble back in the 90's. A good friends mother worked for the the state finances and told me they were going to be broke then.

But it is a beautiful place to live :)

ps....we also have 2 jeeps.....:D

I'm in Virginia, and it's been hot here. I was at the beach surfing and got wax all over myself. Yeah! Oh yeah not mention the sticky boards and the fact that when you put wax on it melts. lol.
