hello everyone,
I'm finding that with my cardio, weights and diet that i'm not actually getting slimmer or loosing weight, rather, i'm getting fitter. which is a little bit annoying. im not doubting that getting fitter is not a gd thing its just im 16 years old and 250lbs and i need to lose some damn mass.
I've been doing this for about 1.5 months - body fat at 39.5% then and now. dietwise I've currently got it at around 1600 calories from a before 2800( roughly) cals. so i dont see anything wrong there. exercise i do elliptical for 30 mins 6 days a week. and weights 2 days a week. again i dont see anything wrong there. Is anybody having the same experience out there ????

Thanks for any advice to come!

How long have you been doing this?

Some people are very lucky and see immediate results, and some people take some time for the results to show. I mentioned in another thread, I'm one of those people who loses weight in chunks, rather than in a steady slide. So sometimes I'd see progress for a week or two and then a week of nothing, and then another several pounds.

Aslo in the beginning it's really hard for YOU to notice your own weight loss. Others will most likely notice it before you do. :) It's especially true when you're at a heavier weight. I know that I had lost a good 30 lbs before *I* noticed I'd lost. It wasn't until a friend pointed out that my slacks were getting baggy that I thought ... oh wow, I have lost.

Keep up what you're doing - don't get discouraged and give up. You *will* see results. It just takes time! :)

two things coem to mind.
1) you cant out train a bad diet. calorie couting can be WAY off without a means of measuring acurately.

2) what is your activity level like when you are NOT exercising? 30 mins of exercise is not going to do much if you are on your butt for the remaining 23.5 hours.

Eat less... move more

increase your calories by 500 a day for starters and double your resistance training days per week as well. drop a couple days of cardio to make room for it..

now i'm curious, when you talk about doing weights, what kind of things are you doing? If the answer is squats, bench, rows, pullups, deadlifts, bench and overhead presses all with freeweights then keep at it. however, if you're mostly using machines and cables and just doing circuits, then i think we found our culprit.

also just as importantly, whats your calorie macro breakdown per day? are you eating enough fats and protein? I tend to find most new to exercising people when they say they are eating healthy, it's 90% carbs that they are eating. which is nowhere near healthy regardless of the carb source.
