I am a 28 year old man who was living a very un-healthy lifestyle. I would eat double cheeseburgers, pizza, what ever I wanted. I drank budweiser beer at least a 12 pack 5 days a week. I decided to make a life change and get in shape and try to be more healthy as I may be having a child soon. I am 6'0" 220LBS I started working out 3 weeks ago. I play basketball for 30 minutes a day then lift for an hour followed by a mile walk/run. I have been eating nothing but healthy food. Whole wheat bread, tuna,, asparagus, hardboiled eggs, salads with fat free dressing, white chicken breast no skin, corn, green beans. Also I have 1 whey protein shake after lifting. I still drink but a lot less and I swithed to a light beer and only drinking 1-2 times a week. I have been busting my ass and eating the best I ever have! I gave up all the fatty, Greesy food I came to love and after 3 weeks of this regiment Im am like 219LBS........ I dont get it. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Have you counted calories at all? With all the extra exercise, you may be getting hungrier and eating more even though it's healthier in general?

Either that or you're holding on to water weight. I'd say your options are to either hold out for another couple weeks and see if you lose more, or to start looking at your calories now.

It does seem crazy that you're not losing more with such big changes, but sometimes your body can take a while to get out of a rut... Keeping a food diary may help to see whether the problem is that you're still getting too many calories from somewhere.

Hope this helps!

It's frustrating sometimes, I hear you. When I started, I sought the advice of experts. You might consider this. For strength training, the best program I found is called Turbulence Training. You structure your workout into supersets focusing on compound exercises. Best way to burn calories while adding lean muscle.

For nutrition, I use the Diet Solution Plan. This helps you determine not only what to eat, but how much and when to eat. I was stunned by the results.

Good luck, and keep the faith.
