I'm gaining....but so is the belly :(

My goal is to bulk up, I've been eating big, and trying to keep it as clean as possible. Also doing heavy weights of reps 6-8 per set. I've been cutting down my cardio to 20min or sometimes i wouldn't do cardio. Now the problem is, yes I can see some mass gain, but I'm also gaining some fat and my belly ain't gettin' smaller.

Now is there a way to loose fat doing cardio without stunning the growth of the muscles?(or not as much?) Thanx

I dont do any cardio atm, just weights. I have found more fat come around the belly, its not alot and I can still see my 8 pack just about. Maybe its my high metabolism helping me there, but sooner or later I assume i will have to start cardio.

unfortunately, with muscle mass gain, some fat gain can be expected. cardio will help this, but too much cardio would hinder your mass gaining efforts. proper diet is a good way to slow fat gain/help lose fat.

hope this helps!

Eating clean is definately one of the best ways of keeping the fat off, a method i have used for trying to trim the fat that keeps muscle atrophy to a minimum is to do sprints in the morning on a virtually empty stomach (just a glass of milk before).
The reason for this is that although during sprints you burn off less fat than you do when doing longer cardio, throughout the course of the day your metabolism will stay higher and therefore burn more calories, also you dont work long enough to cause serious muscle damage so as long as you have a good source of protein and carbs after the sprints you should get results.

this is an example of a program i use.
5 min: jog warm up
20sec: sprint
10sec:recovery
20sec: sprint
10:sec: recovery etc...

I normally perform 8 sprints which equates to 4 minutes work plus a 5 minute warm up and a gentle warm down.

try this twice a week and it may well help you

hope it works

if you are burning more calories throughout the day, you'll then need to eat even more to ensure mass gain. This will be difficult and you may end up eating more fat to fill the calories.

Im on a mass gain program and Im having exactly the same problem myself. Ive put on 3kg (6lb?) in a month so far, but for the first time in my life I have a horrible podgy belly. i am not doing any cardio and Im not eating 100% clean either (i have chocolate and cakes etc now and then) so this is to be expected really, but I just kep telling myself im gonna burn all the fat off at the end of program.

Really i should eat clean but I find it very difficult a) to hit my calorie target without having ny cakes/chocolate/snacks/crisps etc
and b) to resist the sugar cravings!!

Are these the so called high impact aerobic? So going to those spinning room program would also help then? One last question, when you said "recovery" does that mean you slow down to jog for 10 sec?

Xander yah i know exactly what you mean.....errr

But i guess I will do a lil cardio from now on then, and see what happens. Also I will definitely try the sprinting.
