After posting a thread a few days ago some members told me that I was not eating enough calories a day and that it was actually causing me to keep my weight. I started searching around the web and found out what they were saying was accurate. So I was wondering how many calories I should be eating a day?

These are my current issues: I am 16 years old, 151 lbs with a goal to get to 135 lbs, I am only eating 800 calories a day, and if I go over that even by just 100 calories I start to gain weight. On the few days where I end up eating 1000 calories, I feel very full and chubby. I also exercise every day burning at least 300 calories.
I have used many calculators in the past to tell me how much I should be eating but they all say something different. With this information would it be possible to give an estimate on how much I should be eating? Thanks~Brooke.

More important than calories is the type of food you are eating. Doctors suggest to consume non-starch vegetables in large quantities. The problem with starch in food like potato is that starch is another type of sugar, which is unhealthy. Potato and bread are tasty but there is a price.

Calorie calculators are only ever an estimate, everybody is slightly different and without taking actual measurements in a lab you will never have exact numbers.

Low numbers are not particularly bad, so long as you are sure your meeting your nutritional needs, which gets very hard the lower your calorie limit.

Without more information it is impossible to give you a reasonable estimate

not how many calories you eat and what calories you eat will define the loss of your weight. Start eating regular and more healthy products ... lose weight and be healthy
