Hey everybody!
I'm Jim, and last year I was using this site pretty regularly. Since then I changed schools and am now working full time. I got lazy, and demotivated, stopped working out/running, so I stopped visiting the site.
In November, I broke my back. I had surgery (6 screws and 2 rods), spent a week in the hospital, and re-learned to walk. I have made a full recovery, and I gained a lot thru my experience.
I used the accident and recovery as a starting over point, and am now 100% dedicated again. Watching all of my muscle turn into mush as I laid on 'bed rest' for all of December and into January was quite depressing.
I've been back lifting and on my own diet plan for about a month now, and I'm happy with the progress.
I entered the hospital at 183lbs (5'10) with decent muscle mass. I didn't eat the entire week I was at MGH (no appatite), and came home to find myself at about 175lbs. I was looking pretty cut up, but anorexia doesn't work for long.
I got my appatite back over the next several weeks, and went back up to 185lbs. This was not a good 185 because I had been eating, and laying down the entire time.
After starting therapy in Feb. I cut back on the calories and foods high in sat. fat, and began exercising at therapy. I am now at 171lbs, abiding by a taxing lifting regimine, and eating wonderfully.
My goal is to shed a bit more fat, and end up in the area of a lean 175lbs.
I am very dissapointed in myself that I did not think to take pictures as I flabbed out and on my way back to the beach body. I have made quite an incredible transformation considering the severity of my injuries.
Here's a pic of my real cool scar too. It was taken mid december sometime, and most of my muscle mass is gone, and the love handles were forming.
See you guys around
