im at a dead stop!

ok, so i had my baby four months ago now, i have lost 30 lbs so far after gaining 65 with my pregnancy, and now i have come to a dead standstill, in the last two weeks, i only lost 3 lbs, and now im not loosing anything at all. i know that i eat pretty well, i try to eat very little carbs and a lot of protien. i am also trying to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. any suggestions? im getting so frustrated!

I'm not really sure what you can do, but just know that I have been there. I have 3 kids and man, getting that baby weight off SUCKS. But just keep working at it and you will get there. :D

Platues are common. I've gone through it. Personally I don't follow a low carb diet. Try a balance between complex carbs and protien. An out of balance of protien can stunt quality digestion. Also, try adding a fiber suppliment and flax seed oil to your daily intake.

James, I hear this all the time. ...flax seed oil...what is it and what does it do?

Flax seed oil does many things. It aids in digestion, lubricates soft tissue (helps prevent injury during training) and stabalizes body temperature and helps general health. It's the good fats found in fish (Omega's).

I don't know your health or situation, but consistency and persistency will pay off in the long run. Have you spoke with your doctor?

You need to workout more than 3 times per week, you need to increase carbs, and you may need a new routine. It could be a number of things. What is your current menu like? What do you eat and when?

What is your current workout routine? How long have you been doing it? What makes you think you aren't seeing results anymore?

Have you changed your nutrition/routine now that you have lost fat? :)

ok lets see one question at a time:
What is your current menu like?
i am a vegetarian, so its hard for me to eat like many diets suggest chicken and fish and such, but i do eat tons of soy, vegetables, and sometimes fruit. my big problem is that i have a sweet tooth, i can eat ice cream for any meal of the day, i have however cut down to only about 2 times per week for ice cream. and it hasnt been ice cream either, its either an italian ice or a gillatto. oh and what about bread is that very bad? we eat wheat bread.

What do you eat and when?
tony makes me eat about 5 times a day, but i have a very hard time doing this for two reasons, one is that sometimes i eat a lot during a meal, then im not hungry by the time i need to eat again, the second is that i have a busy schedule and a baby, so finding time to eat is difficult, especially when the baby is staring at u asking for food.

What is your current workout routine?
my current work out routine is 20 mintues on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical, 90 crunches (including regular and side), scissor kicks, and then weights, i do bench press, military press, rows, bent over rows, bicep curls, tricep curls, and sometimes lunges. ussually the days that i do cardio i wont do the weights, and vice versa.

How long have you been doing it?
for about a mnth and a half now.

What makes you think you aren't seeing results anymore?
the scale and my mirror. lol

Have you changed your nutrition/routine now that you have lost fat? :)[/
no i dont think i have.

Sounds like it's time to increase intensity. If you stop seeing results then something needs to change. I vote for a change in routine and a change in eating.

It will be hard because you have a baby, but you have to eat protein/carb combos every few hours. I am also a vegetarian. Here are some protein/carb combo meals for us:

Tempeh and wild rice
Marinated tofu and cous cous
Cottage cheese and blueberries
Kashi GoLean cereal topped with a banana
Boca Vegan burgers with a tomato, lettuce and pickle on top of Hemp bread
Lots of veggies... they include protein

I agree with Lynn. Try a split cardio for 7 days. Cardio in the morning and at night. If you can, try your morning cardio on an empty stomach and don't eat after your evening cardio. That will restart things. That's how we did it when I was in the military. I've been doing that routine recently with good results.

omgosh thnx lynn, thats awesome that ur a vegetarian, that really helps out, since u know what we eat. lol
hollywood, how can i split up cardio, like go to the gym twice or can i do something without going there ?

tryin2bafitmoma, you're welcome :)

I'd keep things simple at first. Workout once per day, but add in a full body weight routine. Do that 3 times per week. On the other days do some medium intensity cardio work and one day of rest.

You could do a split routine, but I'd think with a baby and trying to get into the habit of eating 5-6 times per day and incorporating a full body routine is going to be enough to handle for now.

You just need a kickstart. Start with the menu, then add in weights, then add in appropriate cardio. That should work. When you start to plateau again... then we can change things up into split routines.

PS- I know doing cardio on an empty stomach is a divisive debate.... but one that goes against all common sense. There is another thread somewhere on this board about that. I don't really recommend doing cardio or weights on an empty stomach.

yeah i actually tried working out on an empty stomach, i just got really light headed and stuff, ok im gonna try the weights and then the cardio. see what happens

It can depend on the workout, I can't kickbox on an empty stomach but I can do the treadmill for 40 minutes no problem. Try cardio for 5 mornings in a row and see what happens. The military's been doing it for 200 years, there has to be something to it! It has proven the best way to lose weight in my own personal weight lose.

hmm
low carb diet is not a smart thing..
atkins was actually an idiot and ironically enough he had a heart failure coz of all the cholestrol and **** he had in his diet! caued by proteins.
anyhow, carbs are good, because they arent fat but they give u the energy to burn fat. so...you see, if u have like 5-6 meals in one day, u should have some carbs in each. its helpful.

its interesting that the website censored my previous entry ahaha.. the **** is the "s" word...lol sorry i was just writing what i felt like.
