Some Goal Setting:
I am currently at 234lbs. I would like to get down to 150lbs.
I currently have a BMI of 37.8, meaning I am obese. At 150lbs., my BMI would be 24.2, which is in normal range.
To lose this much weight at a steady, healthy rate it would take 10.5 months. To be realistic, I am giving myself a year to reach this goal.
My methods will be to focus on healthy, nutritious food intake; specifically cutting out most of the refined sugars, saturated and trans fats, and non-whole grains in my diet. To replace these bad foods, I need to consume more fruits, vegetables, and make sure I'm getting a sufficient amount of protein. I also need to increase my intake of water as I tend to be on the verge of dehydration anyway.
On top of these nutrition changes, I will incorporate more activity; I will start out as slowly as my body needs me to start and steadily increase. To begin, I will alternate walking one day and strength training or yoga the next. Today I began with a 20 minute walk, so tomorrow I will get the weights out and try 20 minutes of strength training.
For support I will be using my boyfriend, my co-workers, and this website, as well as positive thinking and stress reducing techniques on my own. I believe the stress I put on myself is a major cause of my obesity, and it affects my health in other ways than just my weight. This is an important and integral part of my plan - it will not be successful without the reduction of stress.
I will also come back to this thread daily and re-read these goals. I have made these goals in various forms numerous times over the past 15 years, but have always given up. Reminding myself of the specifics of these goals daily should be a good motivator to keep myself on track and NOT give up.
I intend to reach these goals.
I want to reach these goals.
I WILL reach these goals.
