Haha...laughter is the best medicine, no? At least that's what I learned flipping through the old Reader's Digest that were always sitting around the doctor's office growing up. No, I wasn't a sick kid...no sad stories here. Maybe a difficult childhood...but ugh...who's wasn't?!? Seriously...no one can beg off that they had it easy. But, as usual, I'm getting sidetracked here. The point of this was...is...somewhere. (Coming soon, to a theatre near you,) I did visit my fair share of the good ol' doc's offices. It wasn't me, sure had the colds etc, but for as long as I can remember, it was my parent's. And I mean, it only seemed natural, as it was all I knew, to be spending a few hours every few weeks sitting in the blase waiting room. Playing on the toys until I got too old, reading the children's books, until again, I was too old for even that, then watching the soap's on the TV, pretending to understand why Mr. X was sleeping with his brothers ex girlfriends fiance's sister come back from the dead and now in a coma, but out again....that it finally clicked. Normal people aren't sick ALL the time, they don't constantly catch a cold, or an infection, or whatever!
And this realization scared me. Enough to do anything? No, get this, when it finally hit me, here's the irony. I quit all healthy activities. Star at basketball...pfff. not this year...and everything else too.
And ate unhealthy, cuz why not. It's inevitable. If my parents are like this, I will be too.
Yes, genetics play a huge roll in our lives, but they do not have to define our minds. They can be the reason why we think the way we do, but they do not limit us from shifting paradigms, taking the path unwalked. From saying....ugh! And absolutely revamping your take on life.
Is it easy to move away from everything you thought you knew?
Is it easy to stand out in a crowd?
Is it easy? Hmm...
i'm thinking if it was easy, "weight" isn't what we would call our body mass. It wouldn't sound exactly like 'wait'. the term that means PATIENCE. and 'weight loss' wouldn't have the same connotation as losing something. which oftentimes relates to sadness and misery.
know what???
If changing yourself was easy, if making a stand was easy, if any aspect of this was easy, then why is our country in such danger?
No. Easy is a cop out term. Far too often, we take the easy way. Where does that get us? On the sidelines staring at the jump shots. On the school steps, watching success as we know it walk by. In the office, dreading the thought of someone we once knew walking in.
I'm done with easy.
I'm ready for hard.
Come on, this is fun!
No one said it's impossible.
Did you know that it took Thomas Edison over 2000 tries to invent the lightbulb?
Man, if he waited for easy....
I'm sure he thought it was impossible.
Definately thought it was hard.
But he didn't give up. If you can think it, it can be.
