ideal weight

Wii Fit said my ideal weight is 148. I'm 262 and 5'9'' (and male, if that matters).
148???? I thought... this damn thing must be crazy.

The weight where I'm not overweight according to BMI is 168, 20 pounds heavier than Wii Fit's ideal weight. Why lose 20 more pounds?

I actually don't have a problem with being overweight according to BMI. Right now, I've settled on a long term goal weight of 199...is that too high? It actually seems low to me, I think if I were 199, I would look hot. *shrugs*

for 5'9" i'd say somewhere in the 150s or 160s would sound about right...but everyones body is different. my boyfriend is 6'4" and about 185-200 lbs depending on how good of shape he is in, so 199 might be a bit too high for only being 5'9". it really depends on what type of body you have though. shoot for 199 now and determine if you're happy at that weight or would like to lose more...

You mean to tell me a video game isn't giving valid fitness advice?! :willy_nilly:

199 lbs on a 5'9" guy sounds good, especially if you're athletic. My husband looks trim at around 185 lbs and he's only 5'6". It all depends on how a person carries their weight and how much muscle they have. That WII Fit weight guideline is in one ear and out the other with me.

good lord, that girl needs to eat something. she's probably in the negatives by now. :D
hahaha i reckon, icky! talk about NO SHAPE!
Ive struggled loosing the last 20lb because i didnt have a problem with the extra few lb on the ass and hips. Perhaps i need to follow the match stick thing ideal to motivate myself :rotflmao:  :rotflmao:

HAS to be a mistake or error of some kind. I can't believe that 148 is "ideal" for a 5'9" man. Muscle is heavier than fat, afterall

I'm 5' 7" and when I was in the best shape of my life, I still weighed between 185-200 lbs. I had some meat on me, but I wasn't fat. Technically, I was overweight, but, in all reality, I was in great shape.

BMI is a joke. Don't pay attention to it too much. It's just a ridiculous standard that shouldn't be taken too seriously.

:iagree: BMI is not the best guide to go by, have you considered having your bodyfat % measured ?

God that would scare the crap out of me whats the highest it could be? Mines probably like 60% or something. My wii fit did tell my husband that he was over weight and he's 5'10 and 175 so yeah I wouldn't listen to it to much.

where the heck do i get my body fat % measured? i kind of want to, although i'm kind of scared to...i don't even know where to go to get that done though.

Not sure about where you are, but in Australia many gyms will do the measurements for you as part of your gym membership, it is not somthing you can do yourself. It is also best done by someone who has been trained and has experience because it takes a bit of practice to get consistant with taking the measurements.

:ack2:OMg, a 23" waist?! That is insanity! I agree that she does somewhat resemble a bobblehead on the dashboard... I'd love to nip my own waist down to 26, but am content with my current measurements - except that I recently took my 12 yr old bra shopping and she needed a bigger one than me! :angelsad2: *sigh* Oh well, at least if I am in proportion the pear shape isn't THAT obvious...
