I would like to tone up A LOT

Hi

I've just joined this forum and am posting my first thread.

I would like to keep fit for obvious reasons but also as a way of relieving stress. I'm hoping to tone up and I know this sounds shallow but my ideal would be to look like this:

Casino Royale Photos

I am slim, reasonably fit, I'm in my 20's (younger than Daniel Craig, might I add) and I would like to know what it takes to tone up and be able to disrobe with pride.

What diet, exercises, equipment are needed? What sort of timescale would I be looking at?

I can't stand salads to be honest but I am well prepared to take all the necessary disgusting foods and blend them into a drink, pinch my nose and gulp it down if it means I get the necessary nutrients.

I understand that high protein drinks may be needed. I really am a newcomer to all of this so would appreciate any advice.

When would I start to see any noticeable change if I stuck to a regular routine?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Daniel Craig is pretty much an ameteur body builder. "Toning" is a myth -- it is actually the process of losing fat and gaining muscle definition, although in your case it sounds like you're referring to it as a form of hypertrophy. Craig is on the more than average side of physique.

The good news is you don't necessarily have to eat salads. The bad news is you have tons to learn. You can start by reading threads in the nutrition section (start with the stickies) and weight training/bodybuilding section (again, stickies), as well as articles at places like t-nation.com.

You will absolutely see a noticeable change if you stick with it. And definitely definitely read the stickies at the top of forums, they have a TON of great info...

you'll notice a bid difference in the first 3-4 weeks, then progress will slow. and you'll get disheartened. then you'll read some decent online articles and think you're ready to get the perfect body with the perfect workout and perfect diet; then about a month or so in, when you have a decent routine going, you'll read something else to contradict everything you've done and make you think you've just wasted the last month.

anyway, set a goal for where you want to be in 6 months and 12 months - there is no quick solution so set your goal, listen to everything you hear and learn about what your body reacts best you but be prepared to mix it up regularly.

Thanks for the responses

I would like to have a more muscular physique and look normal rather then become like Arnie in his prime who I thought was grotesque. Apologies to anyone who likes that look...

What are 'stickies'?

What sort of exercises will I need to do and what diet should I be going for if I can expect to see a big difference quickly as benelson said?

So what specific exercises should I be doing and what diet should I have?

I'm looking for the Daniel Craig rather than Arnie look!!

I didn't know what stickies are. I asked before what they were. I didn't know if they were on some other part of the site.

I've found them now and I'll read them. Remember, I am a beginner and new to this site.

Thanks
