I was told this is where most hang need help

Hello there, Just joined the website, hoping to get great advice and a better understanding of losing weight. A bit about myself, I am a nerd, love star wars, love anime, love reading manga, drinking coffee, and saying witty things. Love pc gaming and getting into loving running. I graduated college and work as a Behavior Interventionist working with autistic children. Since I left College I have gotten a beer belly and was eating poorly. Recently I started jogging, and able to jog for 25 minutes without feeling tired, but legs start to ache a bit. I am a bit confused on how I am suppose to lose weight, specifically my stomach. I was told and saw online 25 minutes of jogging will help me burn 200-300 calories, I have cut off all the alcohol, junk food and carbs. Mornings I eat a omelet that has 2 eggs, bell peppers, onions, and tomato. Lunch is usually a green salad of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber or a fruit mix of apples, Jicama, mango, and cumember, and finally for dinner either a fish filet or skinless chicken breast breaded and oven baked. Even with that food, I reach about a little over 1000 calories each day of food but my jogging only helps me out with 200-300 calories. I jog each day and do burpies for a total of 30 minutes which burns about that much from what I read. Does that mean I have to do an hour and a half of exercise each day to reach burning the calories I had for the day and the store fat I have in me or is it that I have misunderstood something?

Me again... I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say you're probably not eating enough. If you're only eating a "little over a 1000 calories' and exercising, your body is going to hold on to what fat it has. Even for women, it's not recommended to go below 1200. You should probably figure out what your maintenance calories should be and go from there. There are a ton of calculators online, or if you want you can put your height and weight on here and someone here will probably figure it out for you. Not me, because I don't do math, but someone will. haha!

Hey LAAG, welcome to the forum! You´re doing well to start thinking about your body before things get out of hand. 160 lbs at 5´7 isn´t crazy, depending on your muscle mass you probably only need to lose 10 pounds, right? Without exercise, just lying in bed all day, you would need around 1800 Cal a day just to keep your body´s basic functions going (assuming you´re around 25). You can get those from food, or from your own tissues. Including but not limited to fat stores. The higher your calorie deficit (the difference between what you need and what you eat), the higher the risk your body will be nibbling on your muscles instead of your fat stores. If I were you I wouldn´t want to go under 1600 Cal/day, and even that is not a lot for a young guy. How long have you been sticking to the plan you mentioned above? Good luck on your journey and I hope you´ll drop by again.

LaMa
