I want to look hot!

Hi... well I'm excited to be starting AGAIN to try and loose wait.. I'm still confused with a lot of stuff like keeping track of what I eat, what I should eat, etc, so if you guys have any threads for beginners that you think I should check out let me know..

I'm also not sure about exercise, I've read HIIT is short, not boring and great for you, I've also heard that 3 times a week max... would 3 times a week be enough for exercise? or should I do 3 times a week HIIT and 2 regular running?

I'd appreciate your help I'm still kinda lost, hope I start learning stuff soon...

Thanks for the support!

Oh... and I'm Male, 22 yrs old...

I've definitely become a fan of HIIT. You can look it up on the net, or even on the forum, as to how to do HIIT. Many recommendations are working at high intensity for a certain number of seconds/minutes, then at low intensity for certain amount.

I read a different approach somewhere, which keeps your eyes less on the clock. First, pick your aerobic exercise of choice...treadmill, elliptical, running, whatever. Then for 20 minutes, do the following: work to your maximum effort until your basically out of breath, keep it there for as long as you can (if you're truly breathless, you'll only be able to keep it up for about a minute or two), then slow down and literally catch your breath for a little while. Once you've really caught your breath, increase the speed/resistance until your again out of breath. Repeat this pattern until the 20 minutes is up. You'll be drenched in sweat, and breathing hard, but you'll have given yourself a great workout. The cardiopulmonary benefits outweigh those of any "low and slow" aerobic activity.

I've been doing this for a couple weeks, and I've already decreased my resting heartrate to 58 (used to be 70-80).

Let me know if you try it out this way.

That sounds awsome! Where can i find out more, i really want to kick start my fittness and hitt sounds like it will.

The more cardio, the better, that is the true goal to losing weight! I do cardio 7 days a week and weight lift 4 days a week (Mondays and Thursdays is lower body, Tuesday and Fridays are upper body). Its good to have breaks between weight lifting, so your body can rebuild itself (if you over work weight lifting, your muscles will start to deteriorate.

As long as you are eating right, sleeping enough, and your body isn't in that much pain (tired, fatigued, etc) you can knock yourself with as much cardio as you want. Also, remember to drink PLENTY of WATER.

And we are on the same goal my friend, to look hot :p

edit: I am not that familar with the HITT method (i just do regular plain ol' cardio ;) ), but you should be able to do that as much time as you can, but I'm not an expert.

btw, HITT...i need to research it. Are there any good posts on the forums devoted to this topic already?

thx
