Stats 5'7 165(started 170) age:16 Goal lose 25 pounds by July 28 to join the US Army

I have been on a diet for a week and have lost 5 pounds so far I want to lose a total of 25 more pounds by July 28 I really need help and avice.

I excercise(run/jog) for a hour in the morning before I eat anything right when I wake up and I walk a hour at night.

Diet well the first week I really didnt know I didnt drink any water hardly besides when I was thirsty and excercising I pretty much went on a semi starvation diet I would only eat a sandwich for lunch a plate of whatever my dad cooked for dinner. Then I started looking on website and seen water is important and helps you lose weight so ever since then i've been drinking water like a feen. Then today I came across this and seen a very interesting comment "eating more lose more" so today I ate breakfest 2 egg whites and 2 peaces of wheat bread and am going to eat something every 2-3 hours. There is one problem to this diet being as I am 16 I live with my dad and he makes whatever for dinner so I try to eat atleast a plate so I dont feel like a @ss.I think he is also trying to prevent me from joining the Army by cooking high fattening foods.

Questions:
What should I do about my dad?
I am eating every 2-3 hours is it ok to only eat a apple a few off them times?
Any other tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I also have one other thing I thing I suffered a sprain ankle running sometime this week it doesnt really hurt like o im gonna die or im crying its just like I cant do jumping jacks but when I run I can just push through it. So any tips to figure out how to get that better?

What foods does your dad cook?
Why doesn't he want you to join the Army?
Do you really want to join? If so, tell him how much you really want it.

Like spaghetti tuna casorolle steak and potatoes hamburger helper stuff like that. He knows I want to join hes trying to act like he supports me but truly he doesnt I am his only son and he wants me to carry on his name. I'm last guy in family with last name.

you're young - you've got plenty of years ahead of you to carry on the family name...

are you planning on graduating from high school and perhaps uisng the army as a way to pay for college?

Lol Mal you dont get it yes im young you must remember people die in war that is what he is concerned about. No ged join maybe college maybe not see after the first contract.

they will get you in shape in basic training(at least I can speak for Ft. Benning,GA). Wouldnt worry too much about losing weight. just keep the physical activity up if you can run 2 miles in about 14min do about 75 push-ups and sit-ups in 2 min, you should be alright. just dont get lazy.

75 lol you dont even got to do that much to pass bt. Nah I actually do want to get in shape to join the army so I dont get killed and jumped in the bathroom for slowing the guys ups. I dont think you have been in the army.

I was in the Army before you probably thought about joining. maybe they changed the regs since I was in for the more "politically correct" army but I am not talking about just passing I am talking about being the best in your age group, it has its advantages.

I am concerned I am not eating enough to lose weight but I dont feel hungry or nothing so am I ok or what.

If you're only eating 600 calories a day, you're basically losing weight by taking it all out of your lean muscle mass. Is that really what you want to do?

Hell no I need muscle. Although July 28 I am gonna hit the weights hard so its like a rebuild. Also I eat that food and im not hungry what more is there to do.

Well, if you want muscle, and don't want to lose what you already have, you'll need to eat at least 1500 calories a day or so. Otherwise, your body will just assume you're starving yourself, and it will do everything it can to preserve your fat, no matter how much you exercise. Your body needs calories to run. And if it's in a deficit, it will get them from muscle before it will get them from fat, unless you have a program that prevents that, and unless you eat enough calories so that you don't trigger catabolism.

Well, 600 calories is basically a starvation diet, and you'll develop some pretty serious problems if you keep that up. On top of that, your body has probably not finished growing yet, and it needs calories to do that. Try to eat more meat, especially fish, and get some healthy protein and fat in your body.

Aren't you too young to join the Army anyway? I thought you had to be 18.
