Hi man! Just wanted to say good for you to have started your mission! You can do it! Everybody can! Keep in mind that this should not be as hard if you embrace it as a lifestyle and not as a short-term diet. It gets easier in time. Your body doesn't need snacks and all the bad things when you feel motivated. Depending on your current weight organize an exercise that will challenge you and not hurt you. Walk, run...Drink a lot of water. Eating healthy is a big part of it. Don't think of it as something that is a problem. One step at a time. Gradually cut down on the sugary drinks and snacks and remember, you can snack healthy! You can find all sorts of advice on the internet about healthy food. You mentioned that your girlfriend is getting thinner. Try to make a new lifestyle for you AND HER. :) Exercise together. Prepare a healthy meal together. Don't go out to eat, go out and take a walk. Good luck man!

Welcome to the forum.

Excellent advice from Grominaa. :)

We certainly ALL have the power to totally change our shape... Lots of us here have done it - and all it takes is healthy eating and exercise combined with persistence - not giving up when you cannot be bothered to exercise or really want to eat something that you know that you shouldnt...

You do not say what kind of shape you are in now - but it doesnt really matter as we all started from all sorts of shapes... The main difference is that the bigger people get more calories to eat while losing weight and get a great work-out done by walking - but the people that are smaller to start with have to start on a much lower amount of calories and a bigger range of exercise possibilities...

The most important thing is to start now and not give up.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends here
