I wanna train for a Tri but...(strength related)

...I don't wanna quit or reduce my strength training. I also don't want to overtrain because the last time I started this process a leg injury took me out of commission.

Most of the Tri programs I've seen have a limited amount (if any) strength training incorporated. I'm planning on doing a Sprint length Tri (5K run, 20K bike, 750m swim). Don't have a race date targeted but need a focus for my cardio training as well as some variety anyway.

Right now I'm doing 3 strength sessions per week. If I can't get to my home gym, I do a FBW and then target specific areas at home usually w/my PT. I'd really prefer not to cut back on the weights but was considering cutting back to 2 sessions per week and just doing FBW.

Anyone ever done this and not pulled back on their strength training? Suggestions, and experience greatly appreciated.

TIA

ive seen or heard about this being done usually by strength training 2 days a week, and tri training 3 days a week with each day dedicated to each part of the event.

Mon: Swimming
Tues: lift
Wed:Running
Thurs: Lift
Fri: Biking
Sat/Sun: OFF

This is how I've seen or read about it being done. If you are really into lifting 3 days a week, you may throw in a lifting day on saturday, and rest sunday.

Good luck
