I think I killed my foot

Whenever I walk, like on the treadmill, after awhile the top of my left foot starts hurting. And it's only on one particular side. And then hurts for a few days afterwards.

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?

I've tried stretching it before and after walking.

I've tried conciously watching how I move my foot.

I just don't get it?

I'd also make sure that your shoes are giving you the proper support... and are apppropriate for how you walk/run.

That's what I was going to say.

I used to play baseball (and football) when I was in high school and I used to have the same exact problem. I was a catcher, so I was always doing weird bendy things with my legs and the top of my feet would hurt a lot.

Anyway, my problem was the tendons and ligaments in my foot/ankle. I didn't have enough support from my shoes, which was causing my tendons and ligaments to strain themselves, in order to keep myself balanced. I got new shoes which were a better fit and our school's trainer got me some heel inserts to help with support. After that, the pain disappeared fairly quickly.

Hmm, I know I bought new sneakers and they have more support than my old ones, but I may try the insert things and see how that works out.

I do know I had severly strained my ankle in Feb. 07 n I've had some issues with that foot but I only developed this problem now. So, I'll try the shoe thing and see if that helps. I think I'm also going to break up the walking into smaller time slots just more often to give my foot a break.

I should also mention that I had a bunch of other issues that contributed to my foot pain as well. I've partially torn both of my achilles tendons, I've always had knee problems, I had shin splints a lot, back problems, neck problems, blah blah blah.

But, the inserts did help me a lot. It's funny too, because it was just a little rubber "cup" that I slipped under my heel and it felt like all of my aches and pains went away just because of that. I'm not saying that the exact same will happen to you, but...it was nice.

When you got the new sneakers were you properly fitted for them at a running store? otherwise, you could very well be wearing the wrong sneaker.

If you were fitted - go back to the store and mention the trouble you're having...
