I think I figured out why I'm not losing weight!

It's something that I completely forgot about and my sister reminded me of it. I was tested for food allergies when I was young and found that most fruits were not good for me to eat. But also I was allergic to Gluten. I went back and looked at everything I've been eating and almost EVERYTHING I ate has gluten. So I can only assume that is the reason I am not really losing like I should be. What do yall think?

If you are Gluten Intolerant or allergic then you should remove all Gluten from your diet anyway.. you will see a whole range of health benefits I am sure.

The Gluten intolerant people I know were very underweight before their Gluten free diet, and unable to put on weight.. not the reverse, but that is not to say everyone has that reaction, some may well gain weight, or not lose if trying to.. but I have never heard of it, I doubt that gluten alone would be causing the inability to lose weight.

But for your intestinal and overall health you should get back on your Gluten Free diet anyway :)

Ya I was just assuming it might be a cause. I am not sure what else could be making me stay the same. My pants feels alot more lose and my belly doenst stick out as much but nothing has changed on the scale. Kinda confusing right now lol.

Yet another reason to not be tied to the scale. :) Things are obviously changing, since your clothes are loose - it's just not registering on the scale yet.

Keep in mind that other things affect the scale ... and some people (myself included) don't always show weight loss on the scale right away. I tend to lose in "chunks" rather than on a slow even slide. I can often tell I've lost weight from how my clothes fit or how I look but the scale will take a day or two (or three or four) to catch up with what I already know.

For me, the scale is a guideline and nothing more. I am willing to bet that in a few days ... maybe even a week, you'll see a sudden loss on the scale that is just catching up with what's going on inside. Maybe it'll be water weight releasing and your body letting go. You just never know! :)

I have coeliac disease (which is an autoimmune form of gluten intolerance). I was misdiagnosed for 7 years because I was not skinny and unable to put on weight even though I had coeliac disease. That means 7 years of pain and near constant diarrhoea, medication that did nothing, and feeling really really low, because a doctor refused to diagnose me correctly. Since then I am in a coeliac community and I was not the only one with this problem.
I do not think that I could not lose weight because of the coeliac disease (I never really tried) when I still ate gluten, but I was bloated like a piggy and looked much worse that I should have. And cleaning up my diet, especially in the first 6 months when I went off gluten, dairy ad most sugars (except fruit sugars), did me a world of good. Not only did I lose tons of inches because I "unbloated" bt I started to lose weight very consistently!
Plus I felt like a hundred million bucks, so I could exercise more, etc...

If you think you may be gluten intolerant, the test is pretty easy, go off gluten for a few weeks. If you feel much better, you were probably reacting to it! Life without gluten is a tad more complex, especially in the beginning, but once you get used to it, it is actually fine. I do not really feel like I am missing anything and I have realized how much people cared for me. They would ask, buy products I could eat, make me special meals, etc... so many awesome people out there!!

If you have any more questions feel free to ask, I have live without gluten for 18 months now. Camy
