Hi Everyone,

My name is Jayden, I'm from NSW, Australia.
I'm 16 years old. I came here... because I recently weighed myself, and I was shocked how heavy I gotten, I hadn't weighed myself in 6 years.
I weigh 235kgs (520lbs).

Any ideas to help with weight loss would help!

Firstly, don't panic, at 16 you have time to get your weight under control.

How much control do you have of your food choices at home ? Having your parents on your team helps with the weight loss effort greatly

Well in our house, it's all junk food. I just ate and ate when I was a kid, until today. My parents are very busy with work, like night shifts. I see the, very day. But my brother is all ways home. I have talked to my parents, they are looking at better food choices. But that won't make my weight go down.

When you have a lot to loose, simply making better food choices can actually make a big difference.

What does your current diet look like on a typical day ?

Well, I eat A LOT.
7 pizzas (free as my brother works at a pizza shop)
fries
bags of snacks
hamburger
and more

Hey, there, Jayden! Good to meet you - and I'm really looking forward to reading how your weight loss goes.
You're in a tricky position, having an (endless?) supply of (free?) pizzas right there in the family - but what Tru says is spot-on - you don't have to panic, and a simple change to healthier eating is bound to make a pretty drastic change in your weight.

Two suggestions:
1. Can you start by asking your parents and brother to just not bring any junk food into the house? Not having in right in front of you will probably help you not to eat it!
2. You don't mention drinks, but if you're drinking soft drinks, can you maybe just straight-out switch to water? Good old tap water! We're really lucky in Australia - and you in NSW especially - to have good, pure water on tap in our houses, so hoe right in and take advantage of it!

There! That's my two first simple steps - what do you think? :)

Hey Jayden welcome to the forum! I want to start by saying you are smart to be doing this now, I was also an overweight teenager and sure wish I had started dealing with my weight at your age. You can take the chance I missed. It would be great to see you do that and follow your progress here.

You have already gotten some real good advice, about all I will add is I suggest you start tracking more closely what you are eating and estimating the calories. You can start a diary here on the Weight Loss Diary page (https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/ ) and post it there. Doing that will not only help you get your eating under control, but will allow folks here to follow your progress and make suggestions from time to time.

You can do this! And I am looking forward to following you whilst you do.

Hey Jayden! Welcome!
First, kudos for joining this community, I'm also new but this looks like very good place full of support.

Seems to me like members of your family probably also have weight problems or at least very bad feeding patterns, and that they don't really understand how to help you.
Don't get me wrong, I believe they love you but people sometimes doesn't know how to do things right because nobody teach them. And we sometimes have to help ourselves alone.

The good thing when one have that much kg is that small changes can provide a REALLY big effect.
For example, just ditching half of pizzas from your menu could result in some significant weight loss in your case which will be motivating and empowering for you.

I mostly agree with others, try to talk to your family and ask them if they can at least buy less of those unhealthy foods. Your brother can come home with 2 pizzas instead of 7 for example. Also I agre with aiminglow to check your drinks, sweet juices and colas can give you many calories and you aren't even notice it.
I really believe small steps are great beggining for you, when people have more than 100kgs to lose it's really easy to start with really small changes.

You are only 16, you need to stop your eating habits now! How is your families eating habits. It will be hard to change yours of they are not going to support you.
