Some of you might remember me from my first thread awhile back, and some of you might not have ever read it. To refresh, I had dealt with a lot of stuff growing up, and then had hurt my chest (years later) as a result of attempting an exercise routine which only complicated things. I was unable to do simple tasks, i.e. move a box, or even pick up my cat. It hurt to move, and I stayed that way for a really long time. Anyway, I wrote up a little something below to give a brief update to the people who did read my first post. :]

I just erased every word of what I typed two years ago... There really is no point in keeping it there since I've made a great deal of progress. I recently weighed myself! I am now under 120 lbs. and am helping others achieve their weight loss goals. I still would like to lose a little more, but it's going to take time and more work! I can't wait. I suppose the point of writing this to you all is to say thank you for your encouraging words and to give you an update. I feel way more energetic than I have over these past few years!! I see everything in a whole new light now. I walk on the treadmill regularly; watch my intake of certain food + drink (no soda!!). I just got through telling someone how crazy it is to not even want soda anymore like I used to; I guess its all due to me not drinking it in so long that I don't crave it like I once did.

I definitely have noticed "the change" and could not feel any better. The only complaint I have now is my asthma-related problem. It seems to have gotten worse over the past year. I used to only have a touch of it, and it makes it hard for me to be able to exercise like I want to. Sometimes the inhalers work, sometimes they don't. Aside from that, I am sooooooooo glad that I've come this far-- I never thought I would! It just seemed that no matter what I did or how hard I worked it would never happen.

Thanks again everyone for the concern~!

I L - O - V - E LOVE soda. I am gradually increasing my water intake and decreasing my soda drastically. I am allowing myself one glass a day. Hopefully when I develop my taste for water again the soda will be bumped off completely.

How encouraging to hear your story!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi coke cans, I was also addicted to fizzy drink and cordial, Now none, the only fizzy I drink now is mineral waters and soda waters. Sometimes at christmas I have non alcholic supermarket wine. I feel so much better too, I lost a lot of weight by cutting soft drink out of my diet. Hey I also injured myself when I was going to the gym about 4 yrs ago, I hurt my knee, and my lower back I had to stop going, even now I have to use a knee support and do low impact excercises. And watch my back also. I am only 41. sounds like you got your weight under controll congradulations. Does excersising every day really work, to lose weight and keep it off. I went to the gym for 1 year and did some aerobics [prob not enough] and weights and only maintained my weight I was a bit dissapointed. But since I stopped I gained weight so It must work Eh. It puts me off a bit. Anyway I have had some probs in the past with ashma, I found that flavor enhancers triggered it also cleaning products. I try not to eat much savory flavored food and use a natural low chemical cleaners, in the bathroom , bleaches are bad for asmah too. Hope this helps you, God bless from Sue. I will pray for you !!!

I am so glad you returned You need to start a diary to help others get to know you and you should post some pics in the before and after! Way to go I am proud of you welcome back to the forum family!

That's great! I never think about soda anymore, and if it's infront of me I don't want it. Hopefully you'll become that way soon, too. My favourites were always root beer and 7up. Why does all the bad stuff have to taste so good ? :( Keep up the good work though. I'm sure you will reach your soda goal in no time!

Hi Suzy!

My mom just started dieting about a week ago to lose weight and she's actually sticking to it this time! I helped her by telling her to eliminate soda and we are going to write up a food log. Taking out soda will help a great deal, not to mention cutting out specific (not everything) foods. She always had a problem with pie, and sometimes cake. Anyway, she hasn't had one soda in one week, that's a record for her. I couldn't be more proud. I'm sorry to hear about you're leg and back injury. There are times when I still have cravings though, and it can be very hard to combat that. I've always been a candy person, and I used to just grab a candy bar (or ice cream!!) on the go and take it with me. I try to replace the candy bars & ice cream with apples + light cinnamon sugar, or whatever else. Not just that but I feel that in the afternoons I want a snack of some sort; that was about the time that I would eat something unhealthy when I weighed more. It makes it hard to control my weight sometimes. I don't exercise everyday, just a few times a week now. In the beginning, when I was trying to get the majority of the weight off I worked out more. For me though, I've been working out less due to the asthma. I find that if I do it in moderation I feel better. I think that working out everyday might burn me out also. :)

I never knew that about flavour enhancers! I knew that cleaning products could easily trigger an attack or discomfort to a great degree, but never flavour enhancers. Learn something new everyday! I never had it this bad until now, but it can worsen overtime, I think. I feel allright right now though, I just have to learn how to get ahold of it. My brother has it also, but his is much worse and he can't breathe in any chemicals for sure. When I vacuum my house I make sure to sure to use plain baking soda on the carpets if " want them to feel clean instead of scented carpet cleaner... I've had trouble with that before, and this 'Glass Cleaner' stuff that was lying around in a can. But yeah, it is definitely no fun losing weight and then gaining it right back. I can relate to that on so many levels. I hope you gradually start to see changes soon! I remember when I first wanted to drop a few pounds-- I was so impatient! lol. I wanted it to happen right away. At the age on sixteen is when I made the effort, and the pounds started to melt off. It doesn't feel that easy anymore now though. Oh well. I guess the secret is to start slow and keep working at it.

btw, thanks for the prayer! :)

I should start a diary! That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how to though, lol... but I can probably figure it out. I haven't posted in any forum in a long time. It feels nice to be able to have a support system like this at your fingertips. It also helps you stay on track! Thanks for the warm welcome. :]

Hey cokecans, Nice to here that your mum is on a weight loss jouney now. You will be a good encouragement for her. I used a different cleaner in the shower the other day , and I woke up with such a soar chest, First I thought what have I eaten then later in the day I realized that it was the spray cleaner I don't usually use. I'm finding with me that I have to use all natural cleaners now or it fires up the asmah. It's funny that you used to crave the sweets in the avo, same here, I would feel like an icecream or chocy. I still give in sometimes, but not as much as I used to. Not having it in the house is a biggy for me, it is harder to resist things that are in the fridge and freezer. When you have a family, it can be painful when they don't have a problem with it and you do. Self control has to be developed, not easy with fav foods around. I think that it's funny sometimes, the way food talks to you. I just have to learn to not listen ha ha. Anyway all the best for you and your mum lovley to chat with you . From Suzy
