I need to lose weight

I'm 17 years old and very obese. I'm 5' 7", 289lb, with a 50in waist! I need to lose weight fast but I can't seem to! I gain weight very quickly! Over the holidays, I pigged out and gained 16lb! Only two years ago, I weighed only 168lb with a 32in waist. I eat around 7 HUGE meals a day and am not active at all. Within maybe a couple months, I will be 300lb if I don't do anything now! We went on a cruise ship a month ago with all you can eat buffets. Just about every day of those two weeks on the ship, I ate 8 pancakes, 9 sodas, 5 Big Macs, 3 steaks, 2 extra large fries, a gallon of ice cream, and a pound of fudge. If I don't eat this much, I seem to starve!

I know what you mean, once you start you feel like you can never go back. Try cutting it out little by little, suddent changes never work, might work for a week and then you are back where you started, and eating twice as much.

When you wake up in the morning try eating something with a lot of fiber, and have a huge breakfast. Like eat two bowls of cereal if you wish...

For lunch try eating a sandwhich instead of a Big Mac.. and try substitiuting the beef with Chicken or turkey, or ideally tuna, cheese it up if you like :) but put a lot of romaine and stuff on it...

as for the soda's.. when I was trying to lose weight someone suggested taking some sparkling water.. like perrier or whichever.. and pop a lime/lemon into it... it gives u that same feeling... but its not as harmful as coke or something..

and then dinner you can do something similar in the beginning and then maybe switch to salad..?

and dont starve yourself, every time you are hungry eat a fruit (and yes i know they are nor appealing nor fulfilling!!!) but over time it is.. give it a try for a week...

this is something i know from my own experience... the less you eat something the less your body craves for it..

so try it

good luck :)

well no derr you starve thats all empty calories, when you eat nothing but ****ty foods like that, you just starve your body, eat a clean diet if you want to lose any weigh, heres a site with tons of good things to get...

and you should start, with small steps, like start walking, to and from school instead of getting a ride, if you have a dog go walk it, even if you dont start walking or jogging, cardio is the best way to lose fat.

yes, small steps are best. And be consistent

First off change your name! You need to start thinking positively about your self! FatBlubber? Bahh!
How about Soon2BSvelt?

You don't want to lose a lot of weight FAST, you just think you do, but if you go on some crash diet you WILL gain it all back.

Also, do not go on "A diet" you need to change "Your diet". Start small, maybe choose mustard over mayo, get wheat bread over white, start drinking diet/low cal soda and start walking around with a water bottle. Sometimes hunger is thirst in disguise.

Does you family eat cr@p all the time? Is there anyway to limit how much empty calorie food come into the house? If you can, do! Request that your folks don't buy the cr@ppy foods that will tempt you. Fill the house with fruits and veggies and lo cal dressings. You can eat a lot of fruits and veggies for much fewer calories. Start looking at lables. If something is all fat and sugar, look for something else

If you are not active at all, start slow. If the best you can do it walk to the mailbox, then walk to the mailbox. After a few days walk to the mail box then across the street and back. Then down the block, etc . . . If you try to do too much all at once it is likely that you will get discouraged.

If you can find a buddy to encourage you do so, even if your buddy is already in good shape. you need someoone you can rely on to help you get motivated (these people tend to be difficult to find). If you have a dog, then you do have a motivating buddy. When Fido has to "go" take him for a walk instead of opening the back door.

And this part is very important, WHEN you fall off the wagon (because we all do) DO NOT look at it as a failure, look at it as "I will do better tomorrow." One slip is not a failure and all is certainly not lost. Even thin fit musclebound folks eat cheesecake occassionally.

it is harder to lose weight than to gain, so do not expect to lose 60 pounds in 6 months. Do it healthy, take baby steps and do it right and you will have a mush greater chance of long term success.

On a personal note, I was about 30 pounds overweight when I was a teenager. it wasn't until I got out of my folks house, and went away to college and could chose my own groceries and really have control over what I would and would not eat that I lost the weight. I've kept it off for 15 years so far.

Finally, come here whenever you need a hand!
