I need Help!

Hi, I am maribeth and I am trying to start living healthy today. I have been saying that for a month, but today My scale depressed the heck out of me. My biggest problem is I left my job and started staying home. I think about food all day and can't bring myself to excercise. I have gained 30 lbs in 6 mos! I'm hoping someone will have some good advice for me. I just have too much time on my hands. I am 5'2" and I weighed 159 today. Two years ago I weighed 104 and had no problem maintaining that. I'm thinking about doing a 1200 cal diet but I am not sure this is what is best for me. Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help I can get.

do a search on this site for harris benedict formula that will give you an idea of how many calories a day you should be getting.

sign up for an account at and use it to record your calories - and if you put it in your mouth, write it down -

I'd also make sure I was weighing and measuring everything to get a good idea of portion sizes.

What are you thinking abut doing with exercise

I'm not sure about excercise. I was going to try Curves but I think I'll be able to come up with excuses not to go because I live in the boonies of Vail. I have all this pretty desert around with walking trails but I always complain to myself about the heat. I tried pilates the other day and wondered how the heck I would lose weight with that. I am clueless. I really want to be successful because my scale is only going upward right now. I'm hoping by seeing other people with success or at least people who are trying, I will stay motivated.

walking is a great form of exercise, if you can get out early in themorning, or later i the evening, when it's cooler, the heat won't be that bad...
