Hi! I'm new, just been on this a couple of days now. I'm trying to lose 20 lbs. by Jan. 2007. My 10th ann. is coming up and I'd like to look nice. Not everyday you have one of those!! Anyway, I'd like info of what exercise works for you and what diets. I've been told South Beach Diet is great. Has anyone tried it? It seams very resricted. So please I'd like all the help I can get to reach my goal. I'm doing Curves right now, but it don't seam to be helping much, I need something more!!

hi there!! well you sound like you have a great motivational reason to loose those pounds! Just try to keep a mental image of yourself at your goal weight in your head at all times especially when those cravings come along. I started doing that and it really helps. U should go out and buy yourself a pretty outfit for your anniversary night, try it on and make sure it fits a little tight, and just hang it up where you can see it everymorning and keep telling yourself how much better its gonna fit on January when you are at your goal weight. Doing curves sounds great but remember loosing about 1-2 pounds PER WEEK is healthy so don't get disapointed if you still havent seen results. Plus you might not be losing weight on the scale but you may be loosing inches!! anyways good luck and keep us updated im kinda on the same boat as you im looking to loose about 25 lbs and still struggling especially with late night cravings so if you have any advice that would be great! Thanks!

If you doing Curves and aren't seeing results perhaps you need to modify your diet. How many calories per day are you eating? Are they healthy calories that help your body burn more calories?

Dieting is soo hard!!

I am doing weight watchers right now. I started this week. I weighed tonight and think I'm losing a pound or so! Also I'm trying to do extra exercise! Here's hoping....

Hi there. 10th anniversary, congrats!
It's likely that the reason you aren't seeing a benefit from Curves is that it only burns a few calories. The organization I am certified as a personal trainer did a study on how effective Curves is and the determination is that it isn't that effective unless you are an extremely sedentary person. You may want to think about talking to a prfessional about a home workout program or a program for the gym.

You are right that south beach diet is very restrictive! Doing a generic diet program you find online is not necessarily the best idea. Everyone has such unique nutrition needs that a generic diet may not be what's best for you.

SOme general rules are to eat lots of high fiber foods such as veggies, fruits and legumes, whole grains, lean meats, and drink lots of water. Eating frequent small meals will keep your metabolism up. PLease let meknow if I can help more. :)

Hi! You and I are on the same team for the halloween challenge and I just wanted to stop by and say hello! You should start a diary so that your other team mates will have a place to go and offer their support to you! :) GOOD LUCK!!!

I tried the South Beach diet and it didnt' work for me, personally. The first two weeks were very hard for me and when I was able to start introducing things back in I went overboard because I had been craving them hardcore for those two weeks. If you have the self control, and have the drive to do it then go for it. Me, I eat sensibly throwing in stuff I like but that is still healthy. I'm not following any specific plan.
