hello im 16, 6’0 and last i checked i was 225. ive never really been self-conscious about my weight until now. i feel like ive gained so much even if i dont necessarily look bigger, its just whenever i look at myself i feel huge. the main point that kinda triggered my insecurity is my thighs, they’re naturally big but they’re starting to look flat on the sides and misshapen, when i stand up the front of my thighs near my pelvis looks pointed kinda and when i sit up, they look elevated somehow and idk if its normal or not. i just need strong motivation and advice on how to diet and exercise, especially on a budget. thanks in advance

Hi Klicoco and welcome. Sorry for the late reaction; newbies usually don´t post in this section. Your thighs sound perfectly normal to me but I know it often doesn´t feel like that when we look at ourselves. When you sit down the tissue (both muscle and fat) gets squished to the side and when you get up the muscles takes on its normal form again.
What do you think is making you gain weight right now? Do you eat a lot of junk food? Large portions overall? Too many snacks? Do you have control over what kind of food you eat or just how much?

Bro, your 16. Calm down, your fine. Cardio with squats and lunges throughout the day. Do you workout at all or any physical activity? What does your diet look like?

Exercising regularly is generally a good idea for MANY reasons but if your goal is to lose weight what you eat is a lot more important than how much you move.

I agree that roughly 70% of your weightloss coming from diet and 30% from exercise would be great. It might be helpful to mention that right away (and explain what you mean with the 70/30 rule) when you´re replying to a first-time poster who may not have any previous experience with "diet culture" and jargon.

ok thank you and I apologize for not being more specific on the 70/30 rule, when your talking with someone about losing weight, your "diet" means what your eating so that's first off because it confused me for years, so 70/30 is percentages 70% "diet" and 30% exercise. Example would be if your hitting the gym daily, busting your *ss but week by week goes by and you don't see any improvement than it is more than likely your "diet". A way I like to think about it is you have an entire 24 hours in your day, right? Ok so its said that youth need to sleep eight (I am keeping my comments/disagreements to myself) of those which leaves you 16, school is six, right? Then bumps it down to 10 so on and so forth but realistically, most people, I say most because I had a hard four dedicated at one time but most people, figure, an hour at the gym. So in that 24 hours, you have one hour in the gym, eight hours asleep and the rest you could be snacking. I am not saying you do but you COULD be. You really need to take your snacking into huge consideration of what you snacking on. Healthy snacks or twinkies? Should try and not snack so much in between meals or have a dedicated time for ONE snack in between meals and if you think its hard just consider "changing your routine or habits" but for the better or healthier way. So in simple 70 is how much and what your eating and 30 is the exercise or activities your doing. So a HUGE part of it is your "diet". Does that explain ok?

Nope, sorry, no sharing of links/websites - or trying to get people to ask about them - for new members. The mods have to be very strict to keep us from drowning in spam.

A big thing now days is Keto and I can attest to this. Ive put a couple clients on the program and along with their physical "movements" have seen major results. I have attached to the page alot of products that I recommend to my clients. Its actually quite intriguing if your into the human body in that type of way.

the only real sustainable lifestyle is 100/10.
if you're a teenager, ok, i'll go up to 100/25.

100 percent of your weight should be controlled by your diet. to be clear, in this sense "diet" refers to the food we all eat every day (or so). if you want to tailor your macronutrient proportions and eating times to aid in weight loss, that can certainly be accommodated.

exercise should only be treated as icing off the cake.
it's never a bad idea to move, though it shouldn't be essential.
there are times you won't be able to exercise,
but for the most part, food is essential.

Flyer makes a valid point, diet is what matters.

I know the Keto diet has worked for some, but I lost a lot of weight without it. There are a lot of options, and so long as you eat fewer calories than you burn any of them will work. No one should have to pay for diet advice, there is a lot of good free material out there, and folks here are always willing to help.

Best of luck to you!

nobody is doubting you, but if you base your life on thinking everyone should agree with you, you're in for a huge disappointment. my opinions are based on experience and listening to people i feel provide science to back up their ideas. believe me... don't believe me... i don't let it bother me.

start a diary as was already suggested and let everyone know about your diet along with any success you have had. a Keto diet is still somewhat of a mystery to me but definitely one way to go to be successful in weight loss. i've been more focused on the brute force method of keeping your insulin level low though intermittent fasting. the best part about a fasting diet is the cost which is likely also the reason it's not that popular with diet sales companies... there are not many ways to make money off promoting IF.

Nah, it's just becoming clear that you're only here to lure people to your website so you can sell your program. That makes people a lot less interested and patient.
Good as it should but then there are the ones who actually try it and see real results. Your patience is becoming less? Good, maybe that will encourage you to get off your ass and maybe go for a walk. That would do better for you than sitting here in these damn forums, talking about losing weight as your eating the last fucking twinky. Stop being a keyboard warrior and actually lose the weight!

There are some very experienced members here, some with actual education to back up their opinions. You have no idea who here have achieved a lot unless you make an effort to actually become part of the community.

not everybody here is actually looking to loose weight, some are simply here maintaining their losses and offering support to those still trying to progress. being abusive is not the way to influence members here.

you are not the first to push your services and won't be the last.

As for keto yes it works, no it does not require you to buy stuff from your website or any other. If you choose to discuss your views without the insults you are more than welcome, but putting down members when you feel your ego threatened will not be tolerated.
