welcome to the forum and deciding to m ake some changes.

Diets don't work - whatyou want to do is make lifestyle changes.. that you will be able to stick with for the rest of your life - start with a reasonable number of calories a day - dont go with 1200 calories that's suggested too often -- it's too low and just leads to frustration.

Find a number that works for you and keep track of them so youo know what you are eating

And start moving, a walk around the block every day and get your body moving...

Hello and welcome...there are alot of stories like yours around here and alot of them become success stories. So be encouraged! I was about your weight a month ago and I am losing weight and feeling great already! You can do this! I look forward to reading your diary and getting to know you better...
There are some people here with the best advice and words of encouragement I have ever known...in fact one of them has posted right above me...So hang around beleive me it is worth it!:)
