I was doing so good, and within one minute it was all gone. When I was 20 I was 260 lbs. I worked REALLY hard for 3 months and managed to lose 30 pounds by my 21st birthday and kept it off. I am 23 now, and 4 months ago I was in a car wreck. A drunk driver in a van slammed into me on the highway and I went flying into a semi. My truck was destroyed, and I made it out with 4 cracked ribs, a huge gash in my shoulder that required 40 stitches, the back of my head cracked open, which required 28 stitches, and a nice gash on my forehead that need 14 stitches. Oh yeah...and my leg....my femur was cracked in four different places, all down close to my knee, and my tibia was broken in 5 different places, one down by my ankle and the other 4 closer up by my knee. Surprisingly, my knee was not broken/seriously injured. So now I have a crap load of hardware in my leg, rods, pins, screws, and a external fixature which hurts like a mofo (woohoo )
So for 2 months I was confined to the couch...I was only allowed to get up to pee. I got my cast off and was then allowed to walk around some more. The problem is my leg is taking its time healing, and now its May, and I STILL don’t have this external fixature off.....I still can’t walk right, I can’t put full weight on my leg and I limp like a idiot because it is so tender...(and no I am not whining, I do have a very HIGH threshold for pain, I played football in High School)
I got all my stitches out, and my ribs healed up...the thing is, now, I am 300 pounds...I start physical therapy next week to help strengthen up my leg so I can hopefully get this fixature off soon, it’s just this F-ING thing was supposed to be off TWO WEEKS AGO.....ARRGGGHHH. It doesn’t help the healing process that I now have 60 more pounds to haul around. It’s gonna be so hard to lose weight again when my leg is FINALLY back to normal (god only knows when that is gonna be) because I am on a crap load of meds (that have nothing to do with the accident) that make it really hard to lose weight...I’m just really pissed off, I needed to vent because this sucks and I am so depressed. Thankfully my fiancé is the sweetest person in the world and is really trying to keep my mood up, which is making me feel better...
