Hey!

I'm offically on day one of the Cohens lifestyle diet. I'm so interested to see if I will have the willpower to stick to this diet. I am not hugely over weight but have recently put on about 10 kgs. Cohen puts my weight recommendation at 53kgs which for me is soooo teeny. Not sure that I would like my body at that weight. I do like to have some boobs!! So anyway that means I need to loose about 15-17 kgs before I start the re-feeding plan...

I can do this!!!!!!!!!!

Day two... on the Cohens diet...

Wow, yesterday was hard. I felt really hungry for much of the day. I chose the yoghurt option of my prescription for breakfast yesterday and think that is why I was so hungry all day. Today I went with an egg and veggies and feel a lot more satisfied. I'm meant to be going out to tea tonight for a good friends birthday. I've looked a head at the menu and will just have a Small portion of steak and a salad and try to guess what 120 grams is then have a side salad with lots of lettuce for 100grams. It will be really hard to resist the garlic bread but it will also be a good test for me. What happens if you deviate from the plan for one meal? Does it muck everything up completely??

I'm kinda please to have lots of exams etc this month so that I am not thinking about food and going out to much...

Bye for now........

Hi kiwigirl. Don't mess up your plan for anything as it will almost definitely set you back. I did Cohen's 100%(36kg in 28 weeks) but know of so many who decided to have just one meal off & they said it set them back a whole week. If you haven't much to lose it's very worth-while sticking to your plan & getting there asap. It will get easier as you go but it won't work trying to do it on/off. I learned by others mistakes thank goodness! All the best with it. I think Cohen's is a really good way to lose weight(it's strict but it's also black and white- if it's not in your plan you can't have it) & it taught me much about myself and my reasons for eating too much in the first place. I'll keep an eye out for you from now on, xo Cate

Hey, good luck! I was really hungry the first few days, especially in the mornings...might of been because of the yoghurt choice as well. But it does get easier, yesterday (day 5 for me) I completely forgot that I hadn't had three of the crispbreads until dinner - got to attempt making schnitzel :pmy only advice for eating out ( haven't actually done it yet but know at some point in the next few months it will happen) would be to make one of the meals that you could buy (steak and salad would be perfect) so you can see how much there is there. it will make it easier to judge how much to eat when you are out. Haha or you could bring your scales and weigh your food there! ;)

Hope it is getting a bit easier,

Can't wait till Monday for first weighing check!!

Day 6!!

Hey, I did really well that night I went out and managed to eat only my meal. It was so hard but I did it! :OD I am so astounded at how fast the weight is coming off me. I've lost almost 2kg since last Thursday. I am a weigh daily girl, I just can't help it. Especially when I am seeing results like these!! At this rate I will be at my goal in 5 weeks.

I am still adjusting to the hungry, and yesterday and today I have been really tired. I normally do a personal training session twice a week but have decided I wont go this week as I don't think I have the energy. We were doing blood glucose testing today in class and mine was 2.9! Normal is above 4 so that explains my lethargy. I feel as though I could sleep the day away today.

Thanks for replying cate and freckles. It's great to have support along the way. My sister and friends have had a read of my diet and can't believe that I am able to do it on so little food. Have either of you had much experience on the re-feeding programme?? Would love to know more. :)

Talk soon!

Haha, I started a week ago and found out about it maybe 2 weeks prior so no idea sorry! But from what I've heard, your portions get bigger and you add things in like bread, milk and alcohol in restricted amounts to see how your body handles them. The tiredness does go away, I was shattered all last week (and was marking exams after work hours so that didn't help!) but yesterday I woke up and felt so much better. Just make sure you are getting enough sleep! Yeah the weight loss is great! I was down 4.3 kgs after one week on Monday morning, I do have a bit more to lose than you though!

Keep it up! I'm sure you are doing fantastically!

Andie

Bread... alcohol... YUM! lol Good to hear Andie, go you loosing 4kg in one week. I still have two days till my official weigh in so will be interesting to see what I end up at for week one. :) Really tired today. I have exams coming up so am getting less sleep than normal which probably isn't helping. Where abouts in NZ are you? Do you take the vitamins suggested?

Shannon

Oooooo exciting!!! Yeah, I've been pretty bad with not being able to wait the whole week before weighing myself too, hopefully I will get better as this progresses haha but it is just so exciting at the moment! I'm in Christchurch. Where are you? Yup I am, I have a brand...can't remember the name, will check tonight, of womens multivitamins. I have one of them in the morning and one fish oil a day (you can have flaxseed instead of fish oil if you want). If you don't have yoghurt or cheese in a day then you definitely aren't getting enough calcium and I figure there's probably others you are missing out on
smile.gif

Yeah I was so tired for the whole week, then Monday, just felt better and wasn't quite as hungry. I listened to your advice about eggs lasting longer and if I have a big day, I swap in an egg breakfast for my yoghurt. If you are getting bored with the meals, start trying the Recipe Book because I am having so much fun experimenting with that! When I get under 77kgs (I'm at 79.2 currently), I'm going to try the Cappaucino Cheesecake recipe as a treat! (the night you have it, you have a vege dinner as there is ricotta cheese in it)....I'll let you know how it goes! Been missing sweet things...

YUM Cheese cake! i haven't read that far into the book yet. I did look at the poultry section for tonight's dinner and might do some sort of curry concoction. I just checked on the back of my vitamins and there is 50grams of calcium in there. Is that enough? I'm in Christchurch too!! :OD how did you hear about the diet??

50 grams? Yeah that is definitely enough, I think the minimum recommended intake for a women is 1000 mg so you are smashing that  I think most multivitamins will have everything you need, I had just never taken one before I started this. I heard through my Mum who heard about some radio presenters doing it off More FM. After one month, one has lost 15 kg, the other 12 I think. They are both guys with a lot to lose but still, that is impressive! I'm doing chicken tonight too, going to attempt using my crispbreads to crumb them and make that crispy chicken recipe I think...what are you studying?

Oh its only 50mgs! lol. I take two but will need to get some different ones with more, or I could take a separate calcium tablet...

I've used up all my crackers today, have been starving! I'm a first year midwifery student. End of year exams coming up quickly!! eeek! It's good it keeps me distracted. I heard about the diet from some of the midwives at CHCH women's hospital. One had lost tonnes and the other had lost it all and kept it off. I really hope I can keep it off. Are you still studying or have you finished now?

Hmmm, that's weird. Mine is only 58 mg....maybe I read wrong. I will ask the consultant about it tomorrow when I see her (two week appointment to check how it is going so far!). Yeah, the first two weeks you are meant to eat all crackers and fruit allowances according to the book so that is good! I think all the brain energy needed for study is what is making you hungry haha, I was a terrible snacker when I was studying!

I finished my engineering degree in August this year, and now trying to deal with the weight that has slowly crept on over the last 5 years. I'm hoping I can keep it off too, I'm trying to use this as a reset button after uni and the no alcohol, takeaways and sugar I think is helping! I've also cut out coffee for now because I can't really stand it without milk and sugar in it haha, it will probably creep back in when work gets busier before Christmas though! I'm currently working till the end of February but then making a decision what to do next by then. I'm applying for a few courses that if I got into would make next years decision easier ;)

Hope the hunger pangs aren't as bad today!

holly sheet! Another 500 grams gone this morning. This diet is insane, i've been looking at the scales in disbelief. surely this isn't right?! Is it healthy to loose so much weight? I think I am booked into see the consultant tomorrow, I wasn't going to go because I am so busy with study but I think I might now just to check that my scales haven't gone crazy. I have notices my stomach doesn't seam as bloated. I've had two children so I have a belly full of stretch marks. I made need a tummy tuck after this! haha. I lost a lot of weight after I split from my ex husband a few years ago. i think it was about 15 kg in all and was very thin but also I was very sad and unhappy. I found new love and new happiness and piled it all back on. damn happyiness! lol. I really hope I can maintain this loss.

Andie, I don't know how you are doing it without coffee?? I would be a mess. I NEED coffee in the morning. I've actually grown used to no milk really quickly. I use the sugarfree sugar allowance for my coffees each day. :) I get a long black with one sweetener, to be honest I haven't used the sugar we are meant to use because I have some equal and its expensive so will use that up first.

So you do enginerring, that must really interesting. You must be one smart cookie to get your head around all of that sort of stuff. I found level 5 bio hard enough. lol

Righto must dash have this blooming portfolio due tomorrow!! I'm so close to being finished for the year but so far at the same time!

Loves and hugs sending non hungry thoughts!

Oh and just popped into the chemist after the school drop off and got some more calcium. It's got 648mg in it. That was the largest dose I could find.... :OD

Damn happiness! Yeah most of mine came on because of my degree but the was a definite increase when I met my boyfriend 3 years ago...flatting with him and three of his guy mates did NOT help! They served up so much food! Yeah it is insane, I woke up to another 400 grams off, total 4.7 kgs down now. I would really like to get under 70 kg by the end of the year and at this rate that should easily happen so that is hopeful! Not giving up alcohol and sugar for nothing!

Interesting, I will have to try it black and sweetened one morning that I'm tired on and see how that goes. Coffee may have helped last week to be honest haha. From next week, work will be starting at 8:30am for me, not 9am so might start needing it! Meh, I'm sure equal is fine, worse case scenario it might be slowing down the weight loss somewhat but thats not the end of the world with the small amount that you need to lose! I think it is healthy enough and it is short term. The meals are pretty well balanced and I know for me at least, it has stopped me putting a lot of bad things into my body that I would have in the last week and a half otherwise (my flatties are inherent bakers and races weekend was insane for my friends!).

Yeah, I did Chemical and Process Engineering, Chemical half was incredibly interesting, Process part not so much but overall it was a good degree to get under my belt. Now just need to work out what to do with it! I don't want to be a Process engineer so exporing my other options currently

Ooo good idea with the calcium pill, might look into that. I checked, it's recommended between 840-1000 mg for women our age. I think we get some from certain veges etc but it seems an important mineral to not get enough of (and I've had problems with calcium deficiency in the past).

Best of luck with your work! Hope the hunger pangs are slowly getting better!

Andie xx

Consultant said extra calcium pills are fine, just check they don't include sugar etc :)

Hope you aren't too stressed and starting to get your energy back!!!!!

Andie xox

Hey! Sorry I haven't been on, I've been flat out with study and everything else! had a terriable weekend with eating but a great weekend socially. lol, I managed to gain back 1 whole KG and it has only gone today!

Very naughty, my consultant rang me on Monday which I thought was lovely. She said just keeping drinking tonnes of water to get rid of the naughty food. I have been really good this week so far and have a quiet weekend of study planned so shouldn't deviate to much.

How are you going???

Hey, that's ok, just jump back on and keep working hard! Hope the study is going well and you are almost there
smile.gif
I'm going well, I am 76.9 kgs as of this morning so a 6.6 kg drop since three weeks ago. Weight loss seems to have slowen down a bit but I think I might not be having enough water during the day so going to focus on that this week. I don't have too many cravings anymore so that is awesome!

Hope it is getting easier for you xo

Eeeeee! Hit one month today, need to go for my blood test, ugh hate them. You must be finished your month soon (Wednesday or Thursday right?), hope you are still going strong and less busy with study!

Andie xx
