Howdy guys! So glad to find this place! I've joined up mostly for inspiration, but also to keep myself in check.
Basically, what's happened here is that I didn't realize how much weight I've gained over the last few years until last week when I moved. I used to live in a single-story house with zero stairs and now I live in a top floor flat with 63 stairs between me and the street. A few days of having to sit and rest for 5-10 minutes after climbing the stairs to my place got me thinking and, after weighing myself for the first time in years (how embarrassing!), I have only three words to describe the current situation: OH DEAR GOD. As it turns out, 65 lbs have made themselves at home around my tummy, thighs and upper-arms without me even noticing! Now, I'm 25, 5'3" and always been very curvy, but I also used to be a dancer/gymnast; After injuring both knees and a shoulder at 19, I had to give it up. As such, I started focusing on my real true love of cooking (and as a Texas girl living in the UK, it's not exactly what you'd call lean cuisine). A year or so after my injuries, I knew I wasn't rockin' the same awesome figure I used to, but I had no idea exactly how much I'd put on. For years, I've been wearing loose, flowing clothes- not to hide my weight, but because I just thought that's what looks best on me. After stepping on the scale, I'm thinking 'Holy COW, no wonder I thought I look better in loose clothes! They look better on me BECAUSE they hide my weight!' and feeling kinda silly for not noticing sooner, haha. Taking quick action, I've literally just had a guy deliver unto me an elliptical machine (£60, barely used, RRP £175, can't argue with that. Thanks, gumtree!) and after I put it together and partake of my final chip shop dinner (at least for a while), I shall begin my epic journey to the land of healthy living.
Sorry for rambling, that's what I do. I'll try to keep it under control, ha!
