I have a Woman Question??

Since Im pretty new ... Is it better to work out with your cycle or is iit bad. Some people say its good some say its bad. Im confused??

it depends on how you feel and how bad the pms is.. maybe lighten things up a little and do more cardio. go with how you feel, everyone is different..

I don't have any energy when I'm on my period at all. But I stilll go to the gym because after a workout I feel great and my period pains disappear.

So go with how you feel like Jen says....

Yeah, I'm pretty much low on energy then, too, but I agree, working out helps me with cramps. so does the steam room!

ive heard from my doctor that working out during cramps helps release them, however it hasnt really proven true for me, as far as low energy that could actually be low iron. eat more green vegies

I did a research paper on this and fat metabolism is actually favored the week or so before your period. The increasing levels of progesterone is responsible for this shift. Note that the other result of these rising hormone levels is poorer thermoregulation of your body. This means it is harder for your body to respond by sweating and control body temp. As soon as you start bleeding there is a rapid drop in hormone levels. Working out during the menses will help release natural endorphins to alleviate cramps and may offset the sugar cravings.

For some reason, stretching more during my pms/cramping stage seems to really help. I always loooove yoga more then because it makes it hurt less.

Unless your on bc, working out during your period can suck. I used not to do it at all because I hurt so bad. But birth control definately eliminated that.

I don't recall seeing a difference. Perhaps more fatigue, but I never let myself have a break just because I'm "on the rag". It's just like any other day as far as I'm concerned.

Go with how you feel that day. im on bc and some days are bad and some are perfectly fine. if its a bad day, try just taking a walk, doing yoga, or even simply stretching. maybe you'll decide you can handle more!
