I hate 4 o'clock!!!!!!!

It seems like I do so great everyday. I wake up, eat a healthy breakfast, do my Biggest Loser DVD, and go on about my day. Then 4pm hits and my willpower turns to mush. I was so excited this morning when I weighed myself and saw that I have lost 4 pounds since last Tuesday, and then tonight I ate waffles and mint chocolate chip ice cream. (not together) What the hell?!! I swear I'm gonna start smoking again.

I don't know what it is about that time of day either that makes me wanna eat something bad everyday.. lol i luckily don't have that option right now since there is only so many times in one day that you can eat the same thing day in and day out. I hate hospital food. My son has been in the hospital for 11 weeks already and its starting to get really annoying with the food choices. I'm trying to be good and not gain weight cause i don't wanna have more to lose this i already do. ugh.. this sucks.

Smoking tends to make me eat more too.. i don't know what it is but when i smoked before having my boys i would eat everytime i smoked which was a lot. so i'm glad i don't smoke and hope you can fend of the thought of even smoking at all. Good luck with your weightloss

I'm sorry about your son being in the hospital. I hope everything will be ok. I think I might lose weight if I only had hospital food to eat. Yuck. My friend has a little boy with cancer and she practically lives at Childrens Hospital. We try to get her as much regular food as possible.

Put something in your mouth that isn't high in calories but filling when you get cravings. Force yourself through a cup of raw broccoli (or steamed if thats your thing) and you won't be so ready to eat something else. Doesn't need ot be broccoli of course, just something you can eat thats not waffles and ice cream and will help you get to dinner.

You are stronger than your cravings.

hey i ran into this website the other day and it may benefit you too : it basically has a list of cravings and healthy alternatives :). some snacks that i find filling that help me are:
chicken soup
low cal jello
silhouette yogurt
rice crisps
100 cal snack packs
dry cereal
fruits!

- also when it comes to ice cream, when you go grocery shopping look for the low cal individually packaged kind! that way you can keep in check easier with those yummy types of snacks. i find that if i dont buy junk when i go grocery shopping, and i dont have it around the house it makes things a lot easier. good luck, and dont give up!

oh and waffles you can buy the low cal type too -- i think eggo makes blueberry ones that are 80 cals each! as long as you stay within your calorie limit, you can still allow yourself to have snacks. dont feel guilty about it :)

Actually they were whole wheat waffles, but I put syrup on them. I went today to get some of that carb smart ice cream.

I did that exact thing the other day when I was feeling slightly hungry, and the urge for junk hit. I ate a bowl of steamed broccoli, which wasn't what I really wanted (obviously), but it did take away that little bit of hunger. When you're full, it's far easier to resist the urge to binge.

Yeah, like my weiner.

:rim shot:

No, no...you probably get hungry at 4PM because it's nearing the end of your work/school day. It's probably just habit, so you can beat it. I agree with Jeff...grab something healthy to snack on to beat your cravings. It's easier said than done, but it's not hard to chew on some carrot sticks or something, you know?

I agree! I'm not a "strict diet" type person so my life is way easier when I can just find healthier versions when I get a snack craving. I think it's more beneficial to not completely cut out everything, just modify everything so it works with your "plan".

There is only one type of smoking that I can think of that makes you crave. So just what exactly are you smoking? :sifone: he he...

When ever I get hungry I eat a Fiber One bar. I absolutely destroy a box a week, sometimes in a few days. I think they are so yummy. I also eat the Special K 90 calorie bars when I get a craving. They have worked for the last 6 months at controlling my hunger and I cant get enough. They are practically guilt free.

Except for farting all day and night.

If I HAVE to have waffles (rare), I will put a tbsp of peanut butter on them. It's not low in calories, no, but it's more nutritious than syrup, and probably still has less calories than the amount of syrup you put on it :).

I drink water. For some reason, even thou it isn't substance, it helps keep the hunger down. Most likely because it keeps me full between meals.
