I Can Make You Thin with Paul McKenna

I'm not sure if it's the McKenna guy, but my boss went to type of seminar (over a 4 week period) and was hypnotized to lose weight... I believe she also quit smoking throughout the whole process too. I dunno if it was really the hypnosis or just that she wanted to lose the weight .

I did want to see the show though, but missed it :(

Unfamiliar with it but did some googling

It's weight loss thru hypnosis - there's a thread or two here somewehre on it...

It's NOT through hyponosis, it's about learning how to recognize when you are really hungry, consciously eating, recognizing when you are full, and stopping.

It's about as basic as it gets.

So many people eat in front of the TV, on the go, on the phone, in the car, etc, that they are not paying attention to just how much food they are consuming until they have stuffed their face.

So many people turn to food for comfort, boredom, anxiety, instead of eating only when they are hungry and their body actually needs food.

He has hooked onto the basic concept that if people just take the time to recognize what they are doing instead of trying to do everything as fast as they can, then they wouldn't eat so much, so often, and so poorly.

Our society has created this "more, better, faster" crap, and it has crept into every facet of peoples lives including their eating habits.

He is just going back to basics. Sit down, enjoy your food, eat consciously, and you won't make a pig of yourself :)

It's actually quite brilliant, simplistic too.....

I didn't like his show either, but I figure if that's what it takes for some people, so be it. I think his methods refer more to taking control, not weight loss.

I've actually been watching his show and in two weeks I've went down a pant size and lost 5 lbs. I'm also using Veriuni products but not so much for weight loss as for nutrition supplements (like vitamins). His program is working for me!

Paul McKenna

Has anyone tried the Paul McKenna's hypnosis cd's or tapes? It seems so simple, but looks very promising. I'm going to start today and tell you how I do.

I've this week started using Paul McKenna's method and have to say it's been really good so far. I now realise how much more I was eating before and not listening to my body.

The main aim of this method is to listen for signals from your body, basically doing what comes naturally. I'm really confident this is going to work for me.

I've tried tried loads of 'diets' before and all of them have failed but this is a real common sense way of thinking about it.

Anyone else had any success with it?

James

yeah, I have followed this basic principal for years, and it has worked for me. I workout too, because I enjoy it and because it is a necessity for me with my kids. But the basic concept of this diet, has been beneficial for me to not only lose weight but to keep it off....

It's great to hear someone is having success with it which always gives you confidence.

I'm keeping a diary on my experiences with it which can be found in the diary section called...

diary-my-life-change

The forum won't let me do a link because I've got less than 15 posts or something! :toetap05:

I don't think it's fair for Paul McKenna's system to be grouped along with quick fix diets and faddy books, nor with hypnosis.

I believe Paul McKenna's system works. I have read the book but not listened to the cd, I have not been hypnotised.

If you truly listen to your stomach and eat when you are truly hungry, it works.

I was just wondering... when you first start the system do you still eat quite a bit until you feel full and it gradually becomes less? Because I follow all four of the golden rules, but I can eat a whole plate of spaghetti, for example, and not feel quite full yet.

Hi , what I would suggest is that even if you don't think you feel full after a plate of spaghetti then this could be because you still haven't learnt to recognize the "full" feeling compare to feeling "satisfied" ... its hard to explain but when I was experiencing this i began to remove a small portion of my food from my plate and throw it away before I started eating! This way the principle of not over eating is still there and gradually i learnt to accept the feeling of feeling satisfied :) Also eating slowly really helps as you brain has more time to register that your getting full up ! I really hope this helps xx

Hi,

I bought his book. I didn't believe a word of it to be honest but I admit I did buy it hehe. Anyway, I read it all the way and his 4 golden rules worked perfectly to me.

:)

Did it actually help you to lose any weight?
If so, how much?
~Thanks :)

I've tried a couple of his other CDs, copied on to my iPod and listened to in bed, and these have worked for me. Motivation Power, Sleep Like a Log and Supreme Self Confidence. Picked them up 2nd hand on eBay, then resold them again :)

My wife brought this book & CD home with her the other day and I picked it up the night before last to read and ended up reading it cover to cover. The book features briefly on "mind programming" for cravings and motivation but in essence this book tells you everything you already know deep down.
Eat when your BODY says your hungry not your heart. Eat what you want, don't deny yourself anything, conciously and slowly eat your food, enjoy the flavour and when you're full or feel like you're getting there just STOP. Don't be a part of the clean plate club any longer. Exercise is classed as anything that raises your heartbeat to anything over tickover.

To begin with a strong willed person should be able to tackle this very easily and the steps outlined in the book I feel really work.

The first day I started to use the techniques we ended up with a feast from Pizza Hut with friends. We had two medium pizzas, four starters and dessert.
I ended up having 2 chicken wings, 2 chicken strips, 2 slices of pizza and a slice of cheesecake. Now this to some may sound like a lot but if I'd not been on the Paul McKenna method I'd have had the full medium pizza to myself, polished off mine and everyone elses sides, had dessert and still been "MENTALLY" hungry for more. As it was I was satisfied...my body told me it'd had enough. I wasn't hungry again for another 6 hours which absolutely astounded me. I had another small plate for tea, was once again full and only had to have an apple around 10pm last night when I felt hungry.
Today at work I had a banana at breakfast time then a small pack of sushi and half a packet of crisps. I have that half bag of crisps on the table and feel indifferent about eating them. I could take them or leave them. Ordinarily I'd have had the lot then as boredom crept in gone to the machine and bought crisps and a choc bar.

The CD is more hypnosis but I find this rarely puts me into a hypnotised state but rather one where my body is totally relaxed and I listen to the suggestions made. I think hypnosis is possible but probably not for me at this time. I will keep listening to the CD as I believe it can only help.

I do have one concern and that is my food intake will VASTLY change over the next few days and I am a little concerned that I won't eat ENOUGH to keep me going. At the moment I feel more alert than usual and feel less bloated but I'm eating so little compared to what I usually would and "you should eat X amount of fats, carbs, protein etc" keeps going around in my head. This is probably from years of media hype over diets etc but makes me nervous nevertheless. Anyone with any tips?
What IF I ate at midday today but at 6pm tonight I don't feel hungry? Do I just NOT eat? In theory that's what I SHOULD do but it feels a little wrong somehow!
I have rarely felt PROPER hunger for years. I have admittedly eaten in boredom and overeaten for many years and I'm worried I'll not know the signs when they tell me I'm hungry.
