I am Stronger than This!

I've decided to start posting again. This is my favorite time of year and I ALWAYS say that I want to start my diet in the fall, so I can be AWESOME come spring and surprise everyone. Well this time I'm GOING TO DO IT! No one thinks I will....but I do and thats all that counts.

Starting today, I'm going to consume 2000 cals and start riding my bike. I'm going to stick to that till I don't lose any weight for a week or so and then I'll drop it to 1800 and so on. Today I weighed in at my newest all time high of 260 lbs. I just can't keep going at this rate.

I also need to remind myself that I'm going to nashville again in the summer and I'm either gonna lose weight or gain it. I'm not gonna stay the same. I did pretty good last year with all the walking, but if I gain weight, it'll be a real struggle...and I want it to be awesome.

One big fear of mine, is having a heart attack. My heart hurts alot when I do any decent walking. Its scary! Come on Korrie...I am stronger than this!!

Hi Korrie - I totally hear ya on fear of health ..... glad U have made up your mind to get-rocking' on losin-it again !

... I am similar place to you ( all time weight high when I started trying to lose again about a month ago ) - my loss has been quite slow so far...but I am determined to stick with this - for as long as it takes ( so tired of being fat & unhealthy !)

(it's reassuring to know that even Moderator/admin folks can have weight issues too- guess we're all human eh ? )....

~ is your Bike outdoor or indoor exercise bike?

~ so glad you are diving in ! ( I love fall time myself too - crisp , fresh, cool- just a great-time to start into something good - great choice to start now )..

~ Just keep your eye-on-the-prize of Nashville next summer ( every time you are tempted to stray from your calories- just think how good it will feel to be stronger & leaner in Nashville ! )

~ will be watching for your progress,

cheers,

Maryann.

AHello Korrie,
Welcome back, and thanks for being a moderator of this site! It has really helped me connect with people who have the same goals as me...to lose the weight and get and stay fit! We have multiple ways of getting there, but we are all on the same journey ! I was at my all time high of 279 when I started the journey, and found this site after I lost about 40 pounds..and now I'm at 103 pounds lost...it is possible...if a 51 year old American woman, living in China, doing a lot of travel can do it, you can do it too! I use the site to keep myself accountable to myself and others...one of the best things about this forum is that we can share things and people do not judge, they do not make us embarrassed...they generally share their experience, strength and hope..gotta love the hope! Start at walking...30 minutes, slowly, then as you get used to that, speed up a little...then eventually go a little farther...make changes slowly, and this way you won't burn out! Stay at it, and don't you quit!
It's not about wishes, not about luck..it's about action and good choices...so I wish you good choices Korrie!

Hey guys!!! Thanks for the support!!! Wow, Did I get motivation today or what??? my HS reunion!! I've got 2 wks to lose 100 lbs...any suggestions??? lol!!! KIDDING!

but seriously...its time to rock this 'lifestyle change' once and for all!! I AM READY! i'm gonna go for a walk right now!

Just got back from my walk. Walked down to the end or the road and back....was 1.25 miles....did that in an EMBARRESSING 23.30!! yikes!!! In HS I ran the mile in under 7 (and that was almost last place, lol) Ok, so I have my base line...i'm gonna work to improve my numbers :) My daughter wants to run our city's annual 5k race next year...so I'm gonna vow to do it with her!

did another 1.25 miles. Its been rough. i CAN NOT believe how out of shape i've gotten this year past year!! I get to the half way mark and my lower back is KILLING me...by the time I get home, I feel like I can't even walk! I think i'm gonna start wrapping my ankles..they are still killing me :(

Hey Korrie - dont' worry - as quick as U can get out of shape- U amazingly can get right back in ! - just be careful not to over-do & get injured....

- the "shape" will come - be patient... I suprised myself this past week - how much I improved after just 1 month of walking .....

& U have 2 wonderful goals now - Nashville & the 5K with your daughter -

& no worries on the High-school reunion- they are over-rated anyway...lol.......

...just keep your Eyes on the Prize - & u can do it - one step at a time - & remember - like Sarah says - it's a journey, not a race .....& if Sarah can do it , & Maryann can do it ( I'm 51yrs old & major heavy) - U can do it too Miss Korrie !!

cheers,

Maryann.

cheers,

Maryann.

thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm sure your right...I'll get back in shape as soon as I got out of it. I keep telling myself the quotes I heard on pinitrest like 'i'm lapping everyone on the couch" or "pain is weakness leaving the body"

Let me ask you guys this.....I walked today too....was going to do the same 1.25 miles I'd been doing for 3 days...but today, OMGSH, sooo much pain in my lower back!! I kept stopping to bend over and stretch my back some...my ankles have been an issue too but I try to power through it. Whats your suggestion?? Should I keep walking the 1.25 miles...should I take a day off?? Should I cut down to .75 or 1 mile instead of the 1.25....I was in SO MUCH pain today...i thought every day would get easier??

I am also afraid of the having an heart attack that is the thing I don't want to experience, in just a second your life is in danger.

Hey Korrie,

Maybe set up a schedule that has you walking a few times a week and use the other days for another form of low impact exercise like a stationary bike, lifting light weights, do some bodyweight type exercises like sit-ups or pushups or even go for a swim if that's an option.

Powering through exercise when it hurts can set you back quite a bit. I'm still learning that lesson myself as it's been almost a month since I've been able to jog due to pushing myself too hard and mistaking the type of pain I was experiencing.

Best of luck with the walking and continued progress

thanks for the suggestions...I think i've for sure got something wrong with my back. i was walking around the store today and my back started KILLING me!! Just this past summer I walked all over nashville and had no problems at all! something has to be wrong
