Hi everyone.

This seems like a good forum to join, I am thankful to have found it. Being a guy, I can't really go to curves or other support groups around here. I live in a small town in the middle of the US.

I have been big all of my life that counts. I was a thin little child from what I see in my mother's photos from the late 70's. These are the only pictures I don't have man-boobs in.

Last September, I almost died from a DVT. Basically a blood clot formed in my leg, and almost killed me. I weighed 335 lbs at the time, and due to the pain and basic immobility until June (after surgery), I tipped the scales at 352 lbs. I started dieting the last week of June, and since I have started, I now weigh 337 lbs.

My weight almost killed me. The pressure of the weight on my legs caused varicose veins, without exercise and proper nutrition, my weight maintained around 335. My legs couldn't handle it anymore, and clots formed.

Here I am approaching my 32nd birthday, and at least 27 of those years I have been destroying my body. Not to mention having depression, humiliation, and so forth.

It's time to take control, and become positive about my life. I am going to do this. Thanks for the support.

welcome to the forum - it's never too late to make changes :) you've got the right attitude that's for sure.

Have fun while you're here and much success on your journe

Welcome brother you'll find lots of support here.

Especially from me as we weigh about the same lol.

In anycase I plan on starting my program and my diary here tomorrow.

Been putting it off to soak up the information and motivation on this forum first to get my old dieting mindset back before I start up.

Despite bouncing from being this heavy to almost in shape I've never had to deal with any potentially fatal bloodclots myself but I'm glad you brought that up in your post.

Avoiding that and diabetes will provide extra motivation for me with my program's start tomorrow.

So thanks haha.

Welcome to the forums! There's tons of info everywhere you look. Everyone so helpful and the best part is its free.

You're on the right path already. Have you started a journal yet?

Oh yeah, and Crunk...I am glad my near-tragedy is going to be fuel for you to get started.

That was a scary thing my friend. I don't believe in luck, so I am sending you some positive energies your way. Keep in touch, and we should monitor each of our diaries.

I love the attitude!

Wake up each and every day and see the opportunity you have to make your life better. Remember the past experiences that led you to make this change and make a promise to yourself that today will be another great day in your new life.

Keep up the great work and remember that you are not in this alone. You'd be surprised just how many people want to see you succeed. Draw support from anywhere you can get it.

Matt

Thanks Matty.

I am now a "support vampire".

It seems support is the only thing I haven't tried yet in my lifestyle. It may be the key to unlock the door I have tried to open for years. Thanks for the support guys.

BTW, My diary is posted. It's strange being that honest with yourself and total strangers. But you really aren't strangers. We all know each other more than you think.
