Hypertrophy thru Bodyweight

just wondering if it was possible and how? the only thing i can think of is doing bw excersises that you can only do like 6 or 8 of...

A friend of mine has a huge chest built solely from push ups (with many variations of course)

I didn't believe it when he told me, but its true. He has no gym equipment and isn't a member of a gym. Even stranger, his tris and delts are relatively small and undeveloped in comparison.

It's hard to get any hypertrophy simply because you can't overload the muscles. You can use stuff like weighted vests and whatnot.

And there's always the prison workout-grab a buddy, hoist 'em on the shoulders, and squat 'em.

I know a college freshman who is one of the strongest looking people I know who only does body weight exercises. It's not just genes, either, because his dad and older brother aren't as strong.

Lol the thing is if u can do 20 sets of 10 pushups u can prolly do like 5 sets of 20 pushups so its really not even fading you at all. Put your bro on top of u and do 20 sets of 10 lol

Looking strong and being strong are two different things.

thats true, im just interested in the whole bodyweight versus weights thing, hmm, its just when you do tons of push-ups the pump is awesome and it can kill your pecs you know, plus wonders for definition. anyway seems like hypertrophy is hard without extra weight, other then pistol squats or one armed pushups or something.
