Hyperbaric Oxygen?

Hi,

First let me introduce myself... my name is Robert, 27, Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Ok, so I wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with HBO for recovery / endurance / training? My nephew is due to start treatments for his Cerebral Palsy soon, so I've been reading all about this stuff. It sounds so cool, but surely too good to be true, no?

They say that HBO kick starts the metabolism by increasing aerobic respiration, providing significant ATP benefits. They claim that it reduces edema, flushes out lactic acid... loads of stuff to aid training and recovery.

Also, it's supposed to increase Bone Mineral Density. My sport is Muay Thai, but for a while I've been plagued by shin splits (which, amongst other things, affect my ability to keep up with the running regime). This would be awesome if it could help me get back into my full training.

My question is, is this all bs???

They use it in pro football quite a bit it seems. And the science seems to check out. Plus there's a really good clinic close by. So I'm edging towards giving it a try.

What do you think guys?

Thanks all in advance,

i know some athletes will buy a portable version of this and use it every night as they sleep.
as for HBOT hyperbaric oxygen therapy, i know it increased oxygen transport capacity of the blood, but thats about it.

Check this out... so cool! Apparently there was this doctor in the 1950's who drained pigs of their blood, filled them back up with a plasma and then sustained them using HBO!

The relevance of this?

I have no idea, but I thought it was interesting all the same, lol :sport:

Check this out too... this guy got struck by lightening, lost sight in both of his eyes... HBO made him see again :speechless:

I think I'm going to give it a try. Will keep you all posted!
