hurt back

well i'm pretty sure i don't have a herniated disc or anything, but my back hurts like h3ll so i thought i'd post up here and see if anyone thinks its serious.

my lower back hurts. not in the middle of the spine, more like on each side of the spine. it hurts most when i sit up. like if i am laying on my back and sit up. that hurts. i have to like roll to my side to get up.

bending over and touching my toes (or sitting on the floor and trying to touch my toes) is fairly uncomfotable also. (but starts to feel a little better once i stretch for a bit.)

it has hurt since last tuesday evening. i'm pretty sure it is due to bad form while doing inverted leg press (tuesday morning). thinking back, i'm pretty sure i was lifting my butt up off the seat as i was pushing the weight up.

does that sound like it might cause lower back pain? or could it be more serious than just a strain? any ideas how much longer it will be sore? i've been heating it, icing it, stretching it, resting it, etc.

It could be that you've strained your sciatic nerve. I did it recently due to a blown squat, but it generally goes away in 1-3 weeks. If that's what it is, just trust me when I say that it requires rest. Attempting to work around will generally result in a lengthier injury. Anyhow, it could be a lot of things, so I'd check with a doctor, but you can check and .

It can be just in the lower back, depending on how badly it's strained. Either way, a doctor's probably your best bet. Good luck.
