Hungry and Discouraged

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this forum. I saw my Cardio Dr. and found out I have high BP which pushed me into going on a weight loss mission. I started March 2nd. I cut out all the unhealthy foods and started walking 2-3 hours every day! I am on a 1200 calorie/day diet. I am hungry 80% of the time but I am sticking to it. I had lost 10 lbs. as of Sunday and I was thrilled!! I weighed myself this morning and found I had gained one pound back!! How??? I have stuck to my diet (even to the point where I am eating less than 1200 calories/day) and I am still walking everyday yet I GAINED a pound.

I am so discouraged and heartbroken right now. All that effort and determination and i have GAINED weight.

Please,if anyone has any advice,I would love to hear it.

Most likely it is water retention from something you ate. Your weight fluctuates all the time. You can be up 1 pound on Wednesday and down tomorrow. I would not be discouraged by one bad weigh-in. Also, 1200 calories is the minimum you should be eating, and that is pretty low. Without knowing your height and weight, I'm guessing that you can probably eat a hefty chunk more than that and still lose weight, especially if you're walking 2-3 hours a day. It's not recommended to go below 1200, it's not good for your health or progress. I would suggest finding an online calculator or an app to figure out how many calories you should be eating. If you can eat more than that and still lose weight, there's no sense in being hungry 80 percent of the time. Also make sure you're drinking plenty of water. That would be my advice. :)
